With multiple sources reporting that all terms have been agreed for Arne Engels to join Celtic there is some expectation that the young Belgian will be joined by another midfielder before the transfer window closes tonight.
Brendan Rodgers set that expectation when he discussed the expected sale of Matt O’Riley with Premier Sports following the 3-1 League Cup victory over Hibs a fortnight ago. That match turned out to be the Danish midfielder’s last match as a Celtic player.
According to Joseph there remains interest in Alvyn Sanches of Lausanne although there doesn’t appear to be much momentum towards a deal for the Swiss u-21 internationalist.
Celtic have been in talks to sign Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches but a deal is now looking unlikely at this stage.
The Hoops had turned to the 21yo after negotiations for LAFC’s Mateuz Bogusz failed to progress.

Luke McCowan of Dundee seems to be the only other midfielder linked with Celtic, so far Hibs have had a couple of bids rejected for their SPFL rival.
If Engels and another midfielder are signed it is difficult to see where Odin Thiago-Holm and Tomoki Iwata fit in for the season ahead although there hasn’t been any sound reports of interest from elsewhere in either player.
