Eleven weeks after winning the Scottish Cup Celtic have added Paulo Bernardo to their squad, a deal funded by selling Oh Hyeon-gyu and Sead Haksabanovic.
With 18 days left in the transfer window it is quite a stretch to think that Brendan Rodgers will have a squad ready for the resumption of the Champions League next month.
After losing to Lazio last November the Celtic boss revealed that his initial assessment of the squad he inherited from Ange Postecoglou was that four quality starters were required.
In January he got Nicolas Kuhn who plays ahead of Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-jun and Luis Palma. Bernardo is also a first team ready player.
After the January transfer window ended Rodgers said that the club needs to be braver in the market, it seems that Michael Nicholson has ignored that prompting as he defends a bank balance believed to be around £100m.
Watching Kyogo Furuhashi nursing his shoulder injury against Hibs was another alarm bell to supporters- with a 2-0 win recorded it seems that the Executive team were high-fiving their way back to Glasgow after the match.
We’ve now just 18 days left of the window & still require:
– LB
– LCB
– O’Riley replacement (likely)
– Winger
– ST
– STI don’t know about you but something tells me we might not get all of that done… pic.twitter.com/VpDK4vYkVd

Other than two transfer windows driven by Ange Postecoglou there is nothing to suggest that there is a competent Recruitment Team inside Celtic that can deliver the requirements of the manager.
Rodgers knew in February what the team and squad required, with Nicholson’s negotiating skills it looks like the manager will be short changed again in the current window. Selling Matt O’Riley appears to be the priority.
Even in a worse case scenario Celtic should have enough to edge it in domestic competition but eight Champions League matches stretching into January could quickly become very embarrassing.

Champions League nights won’t be embarrassing for me ‘cos I won’t be there.
I’m not spending £150 to watch us being humiliated unless there is a major change in recruitment.
The support’s ambition has outgrown this Board.
Half a step ahead of the best domestically is their mantra.
Shame on them.
Looks like Lawwell won’t stop until he’s forced Rodgers out.
Clearly the managers idea of a quality signing is way different to Lawwells punts.
Once Rodgers has gone, Lawwell can resume his game of Championship Manager and all the cheapskate punts that that entails.
I won’t be buying them either
one loan from an epl team ,and one loan to buy deal ,,,,,,thats it
season ticket moneys already banked ,10k waiting list quells any revolt so suck it up Support we don’t have a leg to stand on
Idah deal ; club wants another 1yr loan deal with option to buy at a rate the club values him at
Embarrassing, was last years UCL experience.
It’s going to be a whole brand new experience this time around!
That’s a plastic cup Lawwell’s drinking out of, isn’t it?
Just protest like fuck at every ggame. Get the board tae fuck out of paradise never return .
Protest protest protest and keep going
Boycott the champions League, as we don’t have a squad good enough for it and the board have no ambition to compete in it
Have said for years Peter Lawwell runs Celtic whatever his title is…he is DD hatchet man & Nobody else has a say in Anything to do with running Our Club Board happy to be No1 in Scotland staying ahead of the govan mob is All they need to do & they see No Reason to Change or Show Ambition in Europe…Fans will keep Spending Our Cash because We Care about Our Club…Board Can always say they’re being careful not wanting to put our club at risk but where’s the fun in that boring!! I imagine a couple of panic loan signings at end of the month will be their way to satisfy the Fans then they can say look we didn’t let anyone down boo boo
Has everyone forgotten dom Mackay?
Wasn’t he in charge during anges spending spree?
I think we bagged him for some other reason it escapes me now the actual reason given but overspending on things that actually worked seems to be his crime
Correct me if I’m wrong
That’s Lawwell in the picture because Dick Turpin wore a mask!
We are playing stronger but withe only 19 days left and we need at least 4 players 2 stricker need voters if kyogo gets injured and in case a 2 injury a left back and a centre defender but I hope come the end of the transfer window we have new players that make celtic stronger if not we will be extremely weaker withe all the games that are left the board can’t screw us & Rodgers..Rodgers is not to blame starring to worry we have the means to get the players in so what’s going on
