Motherwell were scheduled to visit Ibrox tomorrow, instead their team hamper will be heading to Hampden for the first of four, possibly five matches at the National Stadium within a fortnight.

On May 14 work started at Ibrox to provide 600 extra seats, on June 20 after online speculation the club admitted that their stadium wouldn’t be ready for the start of the season.

On July 30 Executive Chairman John Bennett gave the most unconvincing of interviews to reassure through caveats the loyal bears that club was doing everything possible to get the Copeland Road Stand ready for their oversized backsides to sit and boo in.

Judging by the pictures below that stand looks like an abandoned building site, there are no workers around with different aspects of the work looking half completed.

According to Bennett boats will arrive in Glasgow with the mystery materials in the second and third weeks of August to get the job completed. That was heavily caveated, of course.

After the glut of August fixtures the next scheduled domestic home match is on September 28, Hibs fans seem far more likely to be heading to Hampden than Ibrox, the Leith side have a decent record at the National Stadium against the Charles Green Tribute Act.

European club football starts in September, if the first group stage match is played at Hampden the other three, stretching into January will have to be played at the same venue.

Celtic are scheduled to play at Ibrox on January 2, there is probably a 50-50 chance of the match being played at that venue.
