Celtic are reported to have made an increased bid to sign Adam Idah.
The source of the story is Stephen McGowan with the Daily Mail reporter having a long established track record of being very accurate with Celtic transfer information.
Idah spent four eventful months on loan at Celtic last season which culminated in scoring the winning goal in the Scottish Cup Final, his ninth since his Deadline Day loan switch from Norwich.
A permanent move almost seemed likely but both clubs have been involved in a stand off with speculation over valuations varying wildly but now it appears that a compromise is in sight.
Just after 5pm tonight in the Daily Mail McGowan revealed:
Idah is keen to return to Glasgow and sources at the English Championship club have confirmed to Mail Sport that Celtic have come back in for the striker and that discussions are ongoing.
It’s believed that an overall package somewhere between £6m-£8m would persuade the Canaries to sell.
Norwich start their Championship campaign at Oxford on Saturday, it would be in their interest to settle the Idah issue and allow new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup to plan ahead with his own squad and identity.
Celtic have started the season with Kyogo Furuhashi as their only striker, the return of Idah on a permanent basis would instantly provide cover and competition for the Japanese striker.
We really are TIGHT C**TS! Nae wonder fur Yrs the Biscuit Tin wiz synonymous wae Celtic! Noo it’s a Biscuit Tin wae a F**in padlock oan it!!
With the money we’ve got in the bank we should be out of sight domestically and have a squad that at the very least is competitive in Europe ?
Agreed. Same tightwads that were almost boasting to the stock exchange about our finances the other day are wasting yet another window with their penny-pinching. No doubt we will be hearing the same sob story about not being able to get deals done come 1 September. Here’s a clue about how you solve that Mr Lawell. Stop making stupid, borderline offensive, low ball bids and try actually making realistic ones that are at least close to a fair valuation of the player in question.
Remember John McGinn? Steven Fletcher? And all the others over the years that you let slip over a few quid, only to then see their value soar at clubs that know how to negotiate, but are prepared to pay a fair and realistic fee? And all the worthless, cheap panic buys that you then got conned into overspending on, when it got to deadline day and we still had gaping holes in the squad?
Message for Mr. Mc Gowan…It is believed that you know as much as I do…and that is feck all…It could be 6 million…or 8 million…??…I just wish I had gone down this road to make money….I’d be feckin’ loaded…What a load of well paid guess work…Feckin’ easy for some.
Rumours have it that he is in Glasgow just now going through the medical,£6 million has been agreed with both clubs, the selling point was add ons should Celtic get into the next round of games in the champions league this will trigger another part payment as well Celtic winning the league and any cups this will also trigger the add ons taking it up to £8 million in total.
Think of custard creams and rich tea biscuits rather than kitkats and club biscuits pardon the pun.
A higher bid from our Board…?
Must be selling M’OR then.
🙁
Sky Sports News citing Daily Mail saying Celtic has made a fresh bid circa £6/8 Mill including add ons.
Both Clubs in discussion 3 Hrs ago.
If miovski isn’t yet heading to Spain he should be signed ASAP, should have been the first signed, he’s quality, unless Brendan didn’t want him , would be a fantastic 3rd striker for the club .
Letting McKenna n Miovski slip is criminal and those 2 would make this a great window
Surely BR isn’t going to have him sitting on the bench until the 60th minute. Does this mean we are going to play two up or will Kyogo be sitting it out?
It’s a fair question Charlie…but if its not 2 up front…Which I don’t think it will be..we need cover from the bench …One striker ain’t enough.
McGowan could of course be
“Ghost Guessing”
the events over Idah and a Celtic transfer, on a Timeline of his own making!
Guess that Celtic will bid low early and be rejected.
Then go and bid again with three weeks of the TWD to go.
Other than that, he hasn’t said anything we don’t (probably) already know or could not have predicted ourselves.
Sitting around a Journo’s Desk all day, he might have little else to do!
Which makes me think, why could this not have been done by an AI editor?
Wonder what date he has for a British withdrawl from Ireland?
