Norwich City are due a cut on the token fee that Blackburn Rovers are expected to pay for Todd Cantwell.
The third rate social media influencer is in talks to join the Championship club but isn’t expected to sign anything today as he extracts the best possible deal to escape his Ibrox hell.
Micky Beale looked into Cantwell’s eyes to ensure that he was of the right character before snapping him up in January 2023 to put Callum McGregor and Celtic in their place.
The Brains Behind Gerrard was sacked nine months, now it seems that Cantwell is set to leave although there won’t be any windfall heading into Phil Clements transfer war-chest.
While talking up the reported £600,000 transfer fee Football Scotland admits it will be less than £1m with the 2012 Tribute Act still paying a chunk of wages and handing part of the fee to Norwich!
Todd Cantwell’s move to Blackburn Rovers is close to being finalised this week – but the fee Rangers are set to net is reportedly a cut-price one.
The midfielder is closing in on a move to Ewood having slapped in a transfer request to manager Philippe Clement following a meeting with the boss earlier this summer. A move to Rovers has been bubbling in the background for weeks but it’s believed the Light Blues may have to pay towards the player’s wage packet after he departs.
Football Scotland understands Norwich City also had inserted a sell-on clause in their initial deal to sell the Englishman to the Ibrox club but the percentage depended on his achievements in Glasgow.
That means the Canaries will see a small cut of the deal. Football Scotland also understands the financial package is worth more than the reported £600,000 but is unlikely to clear £1million.
Football Scotland is the digital edition of the Daily Record, looking to appeal to the younger generation of bears that swallowed the spin from Dave Murray’s most loyal publisher.
Serious efforts are underway at Ibrox to shift another four or five first team stars but it is likely to be Friday before players agree to move out on loan with the lending clubs knowing that they can offer less than 50% of wages with the Ibrox club making up the balance to retain current pay levels.

They told us Raskin and Cantwell were the real deal.
But we never really believed it anyway!
I’ll miss seeing that Cantwell / Clement photo above! 🙂
Can’t believe he’s only been at sevco for 18 months though.
Just reflects how much SMSM spin there has been around
building up this ‘ibrox legned’ – in addition to his own social media mince.
A player with talent, but not the right attitude: a waste.
So sevco are paying the percentage of departing loan players and also trying to get more players in costing more money, unless these players are on peanut wages this looks like sevco shooting themselves on both feet and more cash rapidly depleted from their shrinking bank balance,
sounds good to me. ,HH
Don’t worry there will another Patsy on the way to take his place with the hype bringing in £30 million in a transfer fee.
As i said previously Soutar is the latest CHANCER to get hyped up in the papers with a new contract and a shout in the media for a Scotland call up,watch this space for some serious ARSE LICKING over him.
What’s the odds on Shankland as hes “injured” suddenly signing for the dobs.?. A wee bit of jiggery pokery of the highest orange order here a think?
I like how the papers keep reporting it as a ‘ Six figure fee ‘ to help make it sound better
Those super sympathetic daily Record scoops were describing the ”Toddler’s ‘ fee as a ‘6 figure sum , to smooth the cheap price and add a little gloss onto the dull transfer . From £50 million sovs a couple of seasons ago,to a maximum £500 thousand get tae ‘France’ fee is quite the comedown … maybe the record ( no pun Intended ) comedown in the history of the game ? Does the overall fee include the hairband ..or is that extra ? Payable in long installments…..
