Chris Graham will referee Sunday’s match between St Mirren and Celtic which is live on Sky Sports.
Last season his only Celtic fixture was the Scottish Cup tie at home to Buckie in January, Sunday’s match would suggest that he is climbing the ladder under new Head of Refereeing Willie Collum.
Graham refereed 11 Premiership matches last season and recently took charge of St Johnstone’s 3-0 win away to Kilmarnock which saw Joe Wright of the home side sent off after 16 minutes for two yellow card offences.
Steven McLean will be on VAR duty as Celtic look to make it three wins on the bounce with St Mirren on the back of three consecutive defeats in three different competitions.

After the match at St Mirren attention will switch to the first Glasgow Derby of the season and the selection of match officials.
Before such a high profile match the SFA like to give the match referee for the Derby a weekend off. John Beaton and Don Robertson have Premiership fixtures this weekend which would suggest that Nick Walsh or Kevin Clancy will be in charge for the September 1 match at Celtic Park.

VAR, as it has been implemented in Scotland, is not improving the game.
The operation of VAR seems to be devaluing the game?
So, if CFC and other clubs simply decided that they don’t want to fund
VAR anymore – what is the fallout?
As for the clubs themselves, there is no change, except when playing in Europe?
The only obvious loser would be Scottish match officials themselves:
they will never take charge of a game outside of Scotland ever again?
