Kasper Schmeichel makes his competitive debut for Celtic today as the champions open their defence of the SPFL Premiership at home to Kilmarnock.

There is a very familiar look to the side picked by Brendan Rodgers who goes with the same defence and midfield that he selected to win the Scottish Cup at Hampden in May.

Daizen Maeda is missing from the forward line, he picked up an injury during the 4-1 win over Chelsea and is replaced by Nicolas Kuhn who scored twice in the 4-3 win over Manchester City.

In midweek Paulo Bernardo signed a give year contract with the former Benfica midfielder finding a place on the bench for today’s match.

Don Robertson, who refereed Celtic’s last defeat, away to Hearts in March will referee today’s match with Greg Aitken on VAR duty.

CELTIC: Schmeichel; A Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, Hatate, O’Riley; Kuhn, Kyogo, Forrest

SUBS: Sinisalo, Palma, Yang, Holm, Tomoki, Bernardo, Ralston, Welsh, M Johnston
