They’re taking the mick- Hartson hits out at Celtic striker stand off

John Hartson can’t believe the game of Russian Roulette that Celtic are playing in the transfer market.

On Hyeon-gyu was sold to Genk on July 14 leaving Kyogo Furuhashi as the only striker at the club going into the three match tour of the USA.

That situation continued into the start of the SPFL with Mikey Johnston the alternative option on the bench with Kyogo playing the full 90 minutes against Kilmarnock.

There is a solution in Norwich, the option that worked very well in the second half of last season but so far no deal has been struck for Adam Idah.

Norwich are away to Oxford on Saturday as they start their Championship campaign with no sign of movement over the transfer of Idah.

Listening to Hartson on Go Radio, the Pink Un reports the former Celtic striker saying:

I would like another centre forward in, I don’t want to get the window out the way and we’ve still only got Kyogo. I think they’re on the lookout for one but they’re dragging their heels with Idah at the minute, I don’t know what’s happening

I hope the club don’t think they’ve got enough domestically. Because they have got enough domestically but I’d like to see Brendan Rodgers bring in some quality to add to the quality they already have. In the Champions League, you need that quality.

I’m a little bit aggrieved with Norwich because he wasn’t in the team, he was on the bench. Celtic gave him a platform to make a name for himself, gave him game time which he wasn’t getting a lot of at Norwich.

Now he’s done really well, you half expect it because clubs get as greedy as they can and try and get as much out the players as they can.

But to be asking reportedly £6.5/7/8million, and he’s only been playing regularly for six months. I know it’s business but I’m a little bit aggrieved by that. I think they’re taking the mick a bit.

Hartson has plenty of experience of transfer activity moving from Arsenal to West Ham, Wimbledon and Celtic between 1997 and 2001.

His move to Celtic in 2001 came with a £6m price tag, the sort of figure that Celtic seem loathe to spend 23 years later despite knowing from last season that I dah is ready made to step into Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Grifters on the board doing what they do best, robbing all the fans.

They are setting the club up for a big sale and when others see the books and what sort of cash can be conned out the fans it will get snapped up PRONTO.

Then you will get another coming in to syphon off more cash from dafies buying into a new board a fresh start, only to BE CHISELED AGAIN.

    KEEEEERRRRCCCHHIIIIINNNNGGGGGGG£££££££.

As I said on another thread…For us to be risking Kyogo with no backup is beyond words…and BR is as culpable as the money men in allowing this to happen…Shocking state of affairs… But as Stevie says…What’s new..?

      Rodgers to blame eh?
Would you not be better commenting on your own club losing money to Elite, not having a home ground to play on or being skint?

    • John Hughes says:

You post some nonsense does Rodgers sign the cheques give a rest FFS.

This is the perfect situation for the CHISLERS onnour board in regards to sevco predicament just now.
They ain’t buying big in money terms in the transfer market so why should they miserable cunts on our board do it.

They seen that we got by last season with what we had in the squad, and sevco have reduced a so called number of big players in their own squad replacing it DROSS so our board see no danger or challenge from sevco and don’t need to part with any cash.

Now with sevco getting a result last they might just have enough in the tank to squeeze into the next round and into another shot at getting into the big guys playground with riches galore, make no mistake about that should this happen they BORROW on the strength of that cash and buy players in the £5-6 million range,at which point we will be standing with our vigilantes at our ankle taking a pounding from sevco with the transfer market closed wishing on January to try and catch sevco, and at that stage it will be to late to spend any cash(no laughing at the back there)as sevco will be away and over the HORIZON with the title and the path to riches I tthhe champions again.

Spot on Joker,my fears exactly the way these bastards on our board work, they just about got away with it last season but that was too close for comfort.like Terence stated earlier I took am interested in Rodgers take on all of this transfer farce, most money we’ve ever had and won’t splash out on anyone,I thought Desmond was Rodgers big mate ,why isn’t Rodgers pushing Desmond to get something sorted out with Liewell,or is Rodgers in on the whole thing, what is he on is it £3 million.

Remember the more left I’m the Walter Mitty at the end of the season the more the board have to divvy up amongst themselves,GREEDY GRIFTERS.

As much as l love big John,he don’t half talk a load of bollox.
For anyone with a Celtic background/point of view to go on about the stance Norwich is taking is feckin ludicrous as we play that game in ALL our transfer activities.
Lots of great comments on here tonight and with them a lot of food for thought regarding BR’s role in this shitfest.
If he’s on the level with our fans then l can’t see why he hasn’t called Paddy McGinty(the part time golfer and full time cunt)to get the players he was promised THIS TIME LAST YEAR !!!!
If he is up front with the fans then l wouldn’t blame him for walking come the close of the window.
These parasites are lucky we aren’t an American/Mexican/Colombian team or they wouldn’t be strutting around with their pockets and bank balances bulging.
