Todd Cantwell’s incredible £8.5m valuation!

With Phil Clement’s transfer war-chest still empty the Daily Record has turned to Transfermarkt valuations to give their Army of Readers a lift.

While strong with statistics and contract details Transfermarkt is as reliable as Fantasy Football when it comes to the value of footballers.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent were regularly rated as the most valued players in Scotland, no bids were ever received with both players leaving Ibrox as free agents.

During that same period Celtic picked up eight figure fees for Moussa Dembele, Kieran Tierney, Jermemy Frimpong, Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard.

Incredibly the Record has three players valued at £21m, in the real world if offers of £2.1m came in the Ibrox board would happily offload Todd Cantwell, James Tavernier and Jose Cifuentes complete with their five winners medals for years of failure.

Top of the pile as the Record invest their faith in Transfermarkt is the Poundland Jack Grealish, the third rate Influencer, the 26-year-old Man Child that is Cantwell, rated at £8.5m!

The playmaker arrived for a reported £1.5m 18 months ago as he approached the end of his Norwich deal – but now looks set to leave Ibrox after submitting a transfer request. It’s safe to say Rangers would be delighted if they can bring in the staggering valuation that Transfermarkt predict he is worth.

Captain Disappointed can bring his unique skills to your club for an incredible £6m with the Record reporting:

Speculation over the future of James Tavernier has cooled the closer we have got to the new league season. But if a bidding war breaks out, Rangers could end up fielding offers closers to Transfermarkt’s valuation for star who arrived for £200k back in 2015. Trabzonspor, Beskitas and Al-Ettifaq have all been floated as potential destinations.

After four months on the campaign trail even the Record are starting to realise that Steven Gerrard has no interest in the former Wigan utility man.

For just £500,000 less than the fee needed for Tavpen you could have Jose Cifuentes on your payroll, the midfielder that has been chased out of three clubs in the last 13 months:

Cifuentes looks to be on the brink of a move Aris Thessaloniki after Rangers agreed a loan deal with reports suggesting a £4.2m purchase option is written into the deal. He arrived 12 months ago for £1.2m – and most Light Blues’ fans would bite the hand of the Greek side off for a profit. But, he is valued slightly higher by the Transfermarkt team.

For the Record Matt O’Riley has a real world value in excess of the entire playing squad at Murray Park, an issue that Clement is starting to come to terms with.

I know what the papers are suggesting on behalf of Ibrox, but Gio v B will give no favours to
those who unmercifully sacked him. Not one Journo would have contacted Gio.
I hope Gio wins everything at Besiktas.
At the price reported, Ibrox will not shift Todd. Try halving the price; try a Lend-Lease, put him back on the field,
pay him sit-down-money or ask Todd to buy out his contract at X mill quid. Gers could give Todd a break, by
lending him to the Production Company of Dancing with The Stars. He could be both a Star and a Celebrity.
He will work harder and stay IMO. Phil, don’t be cruel. Let the poor Canary out of his cage.
