Daizen Maeda expertly deputised for Kyogo Furuhashi with two goals as Celtic cruised past Hibs in a 3-1 victory to secure a place in the last eight of the League Cup.
After the final whistle the draw provided a home match against Falkirk to negotiate for a return to Hampden in the semi-finals of the competition.
Kyogo’s shoulder injury seems to be causing concern with Maeda starting through the centre with new signing Adam Idah left on the bench.
Celtic’s early movement was devastating with Maeda showing a striker’s touch and instinct to put Celtic 2-0 in front after 15 minutes.
The homeside should have been further ahead before Mykola Kukharevych caused a surprise in the 34th minute when he headed across Kasper Schmeichel from a free kick.
Hibs seemed as shocked as the rest of the stadium to go in only a goal down at the break but they engineered their own downfall in the 56th minute to put the tie out of reach.
Short passing across defence ended up with Josef Bursik taking a second too long on the ball allowing Nicolas Kuhn to run the ball into the net for his third goal in three matches.
Idah made his return on the hour mark but there was no further scoring with Celtic maintaining their early season form without quite hitting top form.
