The Daily Record has jumped in to join the dots for their Army of Readers that leads to Steven Gerrard following Mister King back to Ibrox.
Even the Sports Desk at the ailing Glasgow publisher knows that that scenario is a complete non-runner but in these difficult times it is a useful distraction away from Celtic’s domination of Scottish football.
After exhausting all of their Connor Barron comparisons the Record needs to find something stronger to keep their readers feeling happy.
King delivered all of the buzzwords with his Sunday morning email to his media messengers which casually dropped in the words Gerrard and Saudi to remind loyal bears that the South African based ‘businessman’ put in place the manager for their only ever title win.
Little mention is made of King bailing out in March 2020 with the cupboard bare at Ibrox and Celtic on the brink of a fourth successive treble.
Steven Gerrard to Rangers return may already have answer as Dave King reunion swirl follows sizzling Saudi starthttps://t.co/ozfl7KFVtQ pic.twitter.com/ebavdp3gvq

It’s all change at the top of Rangers with Dave King offering to step in as chairman once again – which has only added fuel to swirls over a potential return for Steven Gerrard.
The former Ibrox supremo has declared he is the man to help steady the ship in Govan following John Bennett’s shock resignation – and with doubts over boss Philippe Clement following a shaky start to the season some punters reckon that Liverpool icon Gerrard could be tempted to leave the Saudi Pro League for another crack at the Scottish Premiership. The Al-Ettifaq boss received a namecheck in the businessman’s pitch to fill the top job at Ibrox – and that should come as little surprise to Rangers’ diehards.
King helped put down the foundations upon which Gerrard built his 2021 title-winning season – and the former England international insisted that it was the South African who gave him the confidence to take his first steps into management back in Govan. Revealing a friendship away from football with King, Gerrard said in 2019: “When we first met, I could see his passion for the club and his determination to get it back to a respectable place, where the fans could be proud of the team again.
“We shared that vision. I got to know him really well in that first meeting and the relationship has built from there. Whenever he is in Scotland we always get together to have dinner.”
A story based on ‘some punters reckon’ which sounds like someone has spent too much time on their favourite message board.
King is detested by the current directors, mainly for his costly actions while Chairman and topped off by his love of statements through unquestioning media messengers.
The latest message from King is simply to distance him from the upcoming bad news with the current board painted out as the bad guys.
Gerrard is in the managerial graveyard of Saudi Arabia for a reason, he has no managerial prospects but can’t resist adding easy money to his bank account.
The freaky nature of the one success of his managerial career is highlighted by the disastrous impact that his most loyal coach had during 10 disastrous months in the hot seat.
Should the former Liverpool captain return to Ibrox he would surely need to bring in The Brains Behind Gerrard as part of his Dream Team.
King Dave was also responsible for the desperate appointment of Pedro Caixinha – I doubt he’s taking credit for that calamity during his current machinations to return to iBrox for the purpose of recovering his lost investment!
Gimps CLUELESS.. Covid saved him fae the BOOT & a HUMPIN at Liebrox which wda put us 13 pts cgtlear! As fur playing behind closed doors we aw kno that Season wiz as BENT AS FUK as STILL they’re the ONLY club in the WORLD waeoot a positive test!! Helps when u send ur results tae the DUP In Belfast!
Personally , I would be tickled pink if they decided big Pip was gone and they brought in hopeless McInnes …THE biggest fraud of a manager in football ! Or maybe Gerro as boss and McInnes as assistant ..that would be the dream ticket for me . Then again ,McInnes knocked back his boyhood clumpany to be head bummer ,because of King’ s attitude ..so highly unlikely . Oh well ,we can but dream !
King must realise they would have to pay off Clemente?
The Daily Record surely realises that there is no money to pay him off !!
So much crap about nothing.
Haven’t bought any of these rags for 30 odd years.
Good on ya Tyrone9 having not purchased one of the journals of evil in over 30 years…
Every other odd Celtic supporter that still is ought to take your magnificent policy and follow suit…
Their pathological lies are available for free on here and elsewhere…
Purchase of them over a counter or online is keeping them on life support !
Could The King Plan of a Saudi share of Ibrox, give Dave the opportunity to off-load his shares, before what could/might
happen?. If it’s “Enlightened Self-interest”; good for him?. The sale could be predicated by mainly feel-good, personal self-interest?. I should be fair, about motives. We all don’t know very much.
Can Steve Gerrard do the job, without the tactical genius of Micky Beale?. Can Ibrox match S G’s present wage?
Can they afford a big payout to Philippe. Contract expires 2027.
The financial prospects surely can’t be that dire…or can they? Are there other ways to achieve improved prospects?
There would be many people in Scotland disheartened by the Chairmans retirement.
That’s enough questions.
An oil rich Saudi Prince will want the lot, if the plan goes ahead. The seemingly fancifull story, doesn’t strike fear into Celtic Fans. In fact, some Celtic Fans will say, “go for it”, hoping “it” will hasten the demise of Sevco.
Go on the swamp , read a topic of discussion , then make a story out of it
Where Scottish sports journalism is at in 2024
The swamp is probably more truthful than The Scummy’s of The Scummy Scottish Football Media Harold !
Celtic’s very positive set of financial figures will see a plethora of buckets filled with vomit today at football sports desks all over central Scotland !
Read it and weep ya Scummy’s !!!
With Bennett having stepped away from ibrox,
but still having, allegedly, c.£23M ‘invested’ in RIFC,
in worthless shares and loan[s],
he’s in a much better position now to call in his loan[s]
and cut his losses…?
(And fortunately for him, he doesn’t live in Scotland. 🙂 )
