A stoppage time goal from Kevin Nisbet sent Aberdeen into top place in the SPFL Premiership with the Dons laying down the gauntlet to champions Celtic.
The Dons have a 100% record under new boss Jimmy Thelin with the hoops trailing by three points in second place going into the Glasgow Derby.
It was an anxious early evening in Dingwall for the 2,000 plus visiting supporters but the journey was made worthwhile when Nesbit scored his first goal since moving out on loan from Millwall.
That goal was enough to set off a familiar chant with most Celtic fans just as pleased to get news of the goal and the confident boast from the Aberdeen support.
Aberdeen fans today singing
“F*** you Celtic we’re gonna win the league”
Yes you heard me this is real. pic.twitter.com/OWVYTbVuhN— Charlie McGuire (@thebhoyspage) August 31, 2024
Back in April that chant was heard in Dingwall by the Union Bears as their heroes went 1-0 up as they followed up a 3-3 moral victory over Celtic.
Sadly by the full time whistle Tavpen, Dessers and the Scary Scouser were getting all sorts of abuse from the away fans as a 3-2 defeat handed the title initiative to Celtic.
Aberdeen fans have long chanted that ‘We hate ‘Rangers’ more than you’ at the Celtic support, if they were to become this season’s title challengers there wouldn’t be many hoops fans complaining.
I’ve always been curious to know if “we hate Rangers more than you!” means ‘we hate Rangers more than (we hate) you’ or ‘we hate Rangers more than you (do)’.
I asked an Aberdeen fan once but I didn’t understand his answer. It sounded like he was speaking Flemish. Maybe Arne Engels or Philippe Clement would have understood….
I think they are getting at the huns more by considering them an irrelevance
Its deffo they hate Sevco more than we do.
We need to tell them that ‘Rangers’ are now Sevco Captain !!!!
It’s about time the sheep started to get their act together, long may it continue,, as for the league we’ll time will tell,,,
When I lived in Glasgow, many years ago, the 1st thing I did was check the Sheep away date on the new fixture list. Had absolutely brilliant times up there, never a bad one in fact. They’re funny, wear ‘furryboots’ (furryboots izzat?) and by jeepers they hated the huns then and will be the same with the new huns today. There was a wee video, youtube or similar, probably still around showing a crowd of Dons fans applauding hun supporters’ buses leaving the Granite City with some choice ‘advice’ like “dinnae cum bakk” and a wee bit stronger. Great if Aberdeen get it together to challenge for honours in Scotia, a 2 horse race wi’ them wid be magic.
They’ve had terrific players and teams too.
