It was just like old times at Old Trafford yesterday as Efe Ambrose did Efe things at the end of the Celtic legends match.
At the age of 35 the defender is now playing for Workington AFC in the Northern League but took time off yesterday to team up with many of his former Celtic team-mates in the match against Manchester United.
After his Old Trafford exertions Ambrose will be hoping to win back his place in the Workington team that is away to Blyth Spartans on Tuesday night.
Mikael Lustig and Kelvin Wilson from the back four that reached the last 16 of the Champions League in 2012/13 were in place but it is doubtful if anyone else on the pitch could have put in a triple flip- after the final whistle.
While the 3,000 Celtic fans roared their appreciation it seems that most of his team-mates were concerned that they might be called up next to follow in Efe’s footsteps.
After going behind to a 42nd minute free-kick from Wayne Rooney Celtic equalised through Gary Hooper in the 62nd minute with the match going to a penalty shoot out.
With one save from Lucasz Zaluska it was left to Darren O’Dea to net the winning penalty after Charlie Mulgrew, Jonny Hayes, Stephen McManus and Simon Donnelly has netted from 12 yards out.

That line up has made me feel old. I’ve saw everyone of them come and go. I’m sure Sid made his debut when I was a teenager, how is he still able to play?
Confession here, I didn’t even know about the game, been ‘under weather’, partially self-inflicted, partially not 🙂
Big Artur, our Holy Goalie, making the sign of the cross right across the goal! just to piss ‘that’ shower off. An’ I’m Atheist but above that I just hate huns, old and new.
Charlie Mulgrew, one of my favourite goals ever when he ran in and headered that ball into the ground and into that OB wanker’s net in the last O** F*** EVER! 3-0.
Great memories of all of them, and Big Efe, despite his errors, was a great guy to have at CP. Weird comparison but I see a connection with Big Efe and Daizen: you just fukkin know they’ll make mistakes but you love them anyway! HH
