Scotland secured another defeat in Lisbon last night with the pain of the Tartan Army made worse by Neil McCann on co-commentary duties for ITV4.

With an expensive divorce bill to settle alongside a second tax demand the former Rangers winger has decided to chase Ally McCoist into the world of broadcasting, with his playing background and failure in management it seems that McCann is in demand as back up to McCoist.

Over the course of eight days Sky Sports paid for McCann’s excuses during the Glasgow Derby, BBC Scotland take him on between live broadcasts with ITV4 using him for both Scotland internationals.

BBC Scotland paid to take McCann to the European Championships to amuse Kenny Macintyre when he wasn’t listening to the dullard that is Steven Thompson, off duty it is believed that the former Dundee boss spent his time networking chasing further media work.

Like many chasing the cash McCann seems to think that he is paid by the word, rattling on about anything but especially Ronaldo related the moment Sam Matterface paused to draw breath.

Ronaldo seemed to have a special place in McCann’s affection which at least meant that there was less criticism of Tony Ralston, every viewer knows the real reason why McCann was putting the boot into the full-back against Poland while Kenny McLean and wee Billy Gilmour were immune from any criticism.

There was one noticeable exception, when Matterface mentioned that they were in the city where Celtic won the 1967 European Cup there was an eerie silence with McCann switching off his fake enthusiasm for an achievement that haunts most of the BBC Scotland’s sports staff to this day.

On Sunday the former Dundee boss is expected to be on Sky Sports duty at Tannadice, if Phil Clement’s side fail to win they are likely to drop to fifth in the SPFL Premiership- making it another painful payday for the Poundshop McCoist.

I don’t believe that I’ve ever heard so much piffle and waffle from one person before as I did with McCann’s ‘ commentary ‘ last night . It got to the point as he opened up on his continual diatribe’s ,I muted the TV for around 5 seconds only to hear his voice still talking utter horse manure comments afterwards ! Who is the genius that decided McCann is the best on offer to commentate Scotland games on ITV4 ? Was there copious amounts of alcohol consumed ? Or maybe exotic spices added to tobacco ,then smoked when making this ridiculous decision ? Was there a brown envelope involved ? Either way it’s the same old English arrogance . A complete disregard for the average Scotland fan who has to endure such banal and vapid attempts at entertainment. They could not even muster an after match interview from anyone associated with the Scotland camp . The cycle tour of Britain was priority ….

No wonder his wife binned him what a boring fuck. He makes Jim McClean the auld Dundee United manager sound as if he has just got 6 numbers in the lottery with the bonus ball, and we all know how happy Jim sounded when he spoke.
    God rest poor Jim.

To be honest there isn’t much positive to say about Scotland just now!
