Russell Martin has hit out at the Ibrox Tribute Act for pulling out of a Deadline Day loan deal for Sam Edozie

After spending a few months on loan under Graeme Murty, being battered 4-0 and 5-0 by Celtic in the process the Southampton boss shouldn’t be surprised by the antics of his old club on transfer deadline day.

Winger Edozie was wanted on loan by a couple of Championship clubs but when a higher offer came in from the SPFL runners-up Southampton decided that a move to Scotland was in the best interests of the winger.

The Ibrox media messengers were all tipped off about the emerging good news but soon after the 11pm deadline the subject was dropped like a stone.

On Monday the Daily Record reported Martin saying:

What frustrated me was how late it fell through and it wasn’t on our end. It’s a bit unfair to Sam really. It’s a bit disappointing but it is what it is. Every club has their prerogative and their priorities in the transfer window. I was gutted for Sam because it was too late to then find another opportunity to go and play football.

Last night Anderlecht announced that they had agreed a season long loan deal for the former Manchester City prospect.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

As an aside, I remember Pele saying that he considers the save that Banks made, a goal as he believes no goalkeeper could have saved it. It was quite a compliment.

Also, I loved the way Rodgers treated Kyogo’s “offside” goal as counting, talking about Kyogo’s second and describing their first goal as a great cross by Kuhn etc.

As Stein said, you just have to score enough goals to make the men in black’s cheating irrelevant. We shouldn’t but we do.

Sometimes that does indeed work Charlie but sometimes it doesn’t…

I still remember traffic cop (at the time anyway) Andy Davis / Davies awarding Rangers (as they were then) a mystery late penalty to beat Hearts at Tynecastle in 2005 as a big Greek guy played flying aeroplanes with not a sole near him…

That penalty won them the league by one point…

We scored enough goals that season – Only we didn’t !……..
