Barry Ferguson has moved to reassure Daily Record readers that all is well at Ibrox as Phil Clement prepares for a lonely celebration of his first year managing the sinking ship.

A year ago the Belgian Beale was welcomed on board by Chairman John Bennet and CEO James Bisgrove with the most fraternal of handshakes.

Bennett and Bisgrove have bailed out, as has Academy Director Zeb Jacobs

Who lasted less than a year following Craig star-maker Mulholland with Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson the latest to be looking for ‘fresh opportunities’.

To anyone detached from the club it is an organisation falling apart at the seams, to Ferguson, in return for Brogues, a blazer and some European trips it is a bright new dawn with success within touching distance for Clement’s ‘exciting young team’.

Supporter Barry is currently going through complete anguish as Selik rack up the trophies but with his Ambassador gig and media roles with Go Radio and the Daily Record he has to apply top spin to every piece of bad news emerging from the tribute act founded by Charles Green.

Answering the doubters Fergie tells Daily Record readers:

I’ve heard a lot of folk claiming the club has been rudderless and lacked direction since John Bennett and James Bisgrove stepped down. But that’s simply not the case.

John Gilligan is back as chairman and has George Letham in there assisting him in the interim period as they complete the search for the new man to lead the board and another to take on the chief exec post.

Gilligan and Letham have been involved on and off since 2015 during which three trophies have been won as opposed to the 21 picked up by Celtic.

Both these guys are committed Rangers men and will do their utmost to help the club through this difficult period. And they’ve both pledged to stay on board for as long as it takes to find the right people for some of the biggest jobs at Ibrox.

It is going to be a helluva long wait to find the right people with Bisgrove, Beale and Caixinha all appointed under the current regime.

Recruiting the kind of serious operators that are required is not an easy task. I’m told there has been a lot of interest in the chief executive vacancy, with a few interesting candidates from down south keen on making the move to Glasgow.

The key phrase there is ‘I’m told’. He is told because the folk speaking to him know he’ll be sharing the soothing good news in his media gigs without questioning.

The board will have to do their due diligence of course and then there might be a notice period to contend with.

Like St Mirren’s Jim Gillespie once due diligence on the club is completed the ‘interesting candidates from down south’ will be less keen as they walk away.

So it might be another couple of months before Rangers are in a position to make these key appointments.

Bisgrove left in May after lengthy negotiations to join Al Tajr of Saudi Arabia after months of negotiating his escape.

I get folk are getting frustrated with the time it’s taking given Bisgrove quit at the end of May, while it’s now four weeks since Bennett stepped down on health grounds. But if we’re serious about getting quality people we should be prepared to wait for them.

Again, it is going to be a very long wait to find the miracle worker to stem the losses of £10m a season, deliver trophies and force Celtic into falling like a pack of cards.

Print circulation of the Daily Record is now well under 50,000 a day.

Three months after year end there is still no sign of the audited club accounts for the year ending 30 June 2024.
