Kris Boyd launched a blistering attack on his old club as he came to terms with defeat tp Aberdeen last night.
It was a fixture that Boyd was dreading with the outcome exactly as he feared. There wasn’t much to laugh about at as he sat alongside Chris Sutton at Pittodrie knowing that fans of virtually every club were revelling in his pain.
Apart from the joys of one season inside empty stadiums life as a pundit has been a complete misery for Boyd as he watches Celtic dominate Scottish football.
About the only consolation available to the man from darkest Ayrshire has been the problems at Aberdeen with just one trophy reaching Pittodrie this century. Last season the Dons finished in the bottom half of the SPFL Premiership.
While Phil Clement struggles to get any sort of form from his exciting young team Jimmy Thelim has led Aberdeen to 15 wins and one draw having only taken over as manager in June, nine months after Clement started his Ibrox Revolution!
Last night at Pittodrie contrasted the brilliant Belgian against the boring Swede, afterwards Boyd was forced into a very uncomfortable confession:
There are problems at Rangers that need to get fixed. Listen, take nothing away from Aberdeen. They deserved their victory.
They have by far a better team than Rangers, better manager than Rangers better recruitment than Rangers, a better team than Rangers. And Rangers need to get that sorted now.
Clement started last night with just three of his own signings in the Starting XI which suggests that he has lost faith in Robin Propper, Mohamed Diomande, Hamza Igamane and the rest of his exciting young team.
While Boyd screams for changes he knows that Clement, James Tavernier, Cyriel Dessers and others are sitting on long term contracts with wages that they wouldn’t get near anywhere else.
Micky Beale slipped off centre stage in The Banter Years 13 months ago but his legacy lives on in the team sheet and pay roll that not even A Proper Football Manager can turn around.
Sitting in third place, nine points behind Aberdeen, Clement’s exciting young side are as close to St Johnstone in ninth place as they are to the dandy Dons.
Hampden isn’t expected to be full on Sunday for the League Cup semi-final against Motherwell with the Union Bears expected to produce more petulant banners. If Stuart Kettlewell’s side can hold tight for 20 minutes there is likely to be a very angry reaction from the bears as they watch another season of failure unfold in front of them.
Boyd is a close friend of Alex Rae and could be in line for a backroom role if the former Dundee and St Mirren boss steps up as Caretaker Manager once Clement has been sacked.
Who will be in the home dug out when Celtic visit Ibrox on January 2
Big Phil- he is A Proper Football Manager
Wee Barry- He knows what it is all about
Wee Alex- Biding his time, already in the dug out
MURTY! The only man that knows the job
Bomber- time to restore some traditions and passion
Sir Alex- Bring him home

What about the £17.2 million pound loss from theRangers accounts…did big fake Kris Boyd mention that as part of his accepted rant on Sky sports for his pet project’s implosion ..again ? I’m no chartered accountant but even I can realise a monumental loss of that magnitude of money will greatly impact every single aspect of theRangers clumpany’s daily operations .. especially the lack of quality personnel in the dressing room . It seemed to have been conveniently overlooked on all of the platforms last night ..I can’t think why …Can you ?
Third place, don’t count on it.
