With the out of touch comments from Stuart Kettlewell fresh in the air a still image has emerged of the sickening attack on Adam Idah that earned Liam Gordon a red card, eventually, against Celtic.
Still images are never the most convincing of evidence but after multiple video angles including slow-motion the image below shows the extent of the damage caused to the Celtic striker.
With his body turning onto the ball to go into the Motherwell half Gordon lunges in late making contact with Idah’s Achilles then continuing through his ankle and foot.
David Dickinson had a clear view of the contact, awarded a free kick and yellow card and thought nothing more of it.
There’s no doubt the modern game sees players better protected than they once were but this is exactly the sort of tackle we need red cards for. They dying moments of a game in which his team are 3-0 down and he flies in like that. Utterly reckless and dangerous. pic.twitter.com/QiKOijVHwJ

Having failed to award Celtic a first half penalty when Stephen O’Donnell decked Daizen Maeda there was little in the way of consequences for Gordon’s ‘challenge’ when Alan Muir decided to review the yellow card offence.
The VAR official requested a pitchside review, with the match in stoppage time a red card was shown to Gordon who will now be suspended for Wednesday’s match away to Dundee United and Sunday’s League Cup semi-final against Phil Clement’s exciting young side.
So we have the refs and VSR officials for the next couple of fixtures coming up.
It will be interesting to see how Muir officiates the VAR system now that it will be sevco against Motherwell this weekend and those dodgy decisions of his.
The midweek fixture with Cheaton Beaton in charge with Robersson on VAR duties should make an interesting game for moving the cheating on to another level.
Dickinson is a right Fuckin Dangerous one for sure – Muir also…
Beaton is Beaton and Aitken is Aitken…
The rest seem to keep a lower profile like McDermid and the like !
Clachnacuddin dickinson was pictured at an orange walk and the image was posted onto Facebook where it was followed by posts of,get that doon ffs! My only regret is I didn’t screen shot it as it was gone within minutes. Yes he’s a very dangerous individual. Even his family have posted about how they were proud he was officiating a game at ibrox and how he could get their team three points. Most corrupt league in world football
Maybe that’s why the Motherwell player got the red eventually…
“ooh, he’ll miss the semifinal against Rainjurz tae, send him aff Davie, send him aff!”
I didn’t realise Gordon would be banned for the new huns’ game as well.
Can’t he do what ‘they’ do and put in a case for not being banned for Sunday’s game as it’s in a different competition?
Only in Scotland!
BTW, on another note but on the same type of ‘peepul’, isn’t it nice to see that filthy, little, right-wing arsehole aka Tommy Robinson (known hun) has been jailed for 18 months?
Pity it wasn’t 18 years……..!
the people to blame for this constant corruption year after year are the celtic board. the suspension rule needs changed any player red carded should miss any games against the team the offence was committed. sevco gaining an advantage just shows up the whole incompetence of those in charge and unfortunately i include the suits in the padded seats in the south stand who are negligent in their duty to the team on the field.
Think you’re being a bit harsh to call it an attack Joe, the lad got it wrong, mistimed the challenge and could have injured Adam quite severely, but you know, publishing this article with that kind of emotive wording could lead to fuelling abuse to the Motherwell player, which is sadly what many people do too often these days, online and at matches.
Editor: It was an attack, a lunge, dangerous and bad tempered with the match lost. Saying that doesn’t encourage anyone, folk saw it for themselves. The real villain is David Dickinson who thought it was a yellow card which encourages others to put in similar challenges in matches that don’t involve the team that Dickinson supports. He had to be corrected by VAR to send off Ianis Hagi a few weeks ago. We know what Dickinson is upto.
Spot on, Joe, I totally agree with you.
