Ten days before facing Celtic, RB Leipzig moved into top spot in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 home win over Freiburg.
It has been a season of contrasts for coach Marco Rose, his side have lost three out of three in the Champions League but are neck and neck with Bayern Munich domestically.
Liverpool took three points home from their Champions League clash on Wednesday night but Freiburg, starting the match two points behind Leipzig were left empty handed despite taking the lead in the 15th minute.
Goals from Willi Orbán, Lutsharel Geertruida, and Loïs Openda in the second half pushed Leipzig three points ahead of Bayern Munch who are away to Bochum today.
In midweek Leipzig have a German Cup tie at home to St Pauli followed by a trip to Borussia Dortmund ahead of facing Celtic in a match that they really have to win to stand a realistic chance of surviving in the Champions League.
So far in the Champions League Leipzig have lost by a single goal to Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool- three clubs that have ambitions of finishing in the top eight for an automatic place in the Round of 16.
