Phil Clement sent his credibility plunging last night as he claimed that his side had put in one of their best performances of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen.
As the Belgian Beale endured the coach journey back to Ibrox his side are sitting in third place in a two horse race with angry bears demanding change and sackings as they watch their club fade into irrelevance.
In February Clement was on course for a quadruple, on April 6 he was still on the brink of a treble but at Halloween only his lucrative contract, which runs until May 2028 is keeping him in a job.
After promising a summer of change, the end of a cycle, only three of his own signings made it onto the team sheet at Pittodrie. In truth Connor Barron, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Nadim Bajrami were every bit as bad as the duds accumulated by previous managers.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match the current Ibrox boss took gaslighting to new levels with:
It’s hugely disappointing to lose but we could have drawn or won if things had fallen on our side. We started well but then Aberdeen took over and we struggled. We then had the game in our hands but we didn’t take our chances and they did.
We need to be more clinical in the final third and we also need to have more luck on our side but I thought this was one of our better performances this season with the new squad.
All credit to Aberdeen for the way they played. They deserve to be up there. We are working hard to make things better but I think this was one of the better performances of several players.
In points, for sure we should have more but if the toenail wasn’t there for our offside goal, it could have been 2-2. It wasn’t that Aberdeen blew us away. That’s not the reality.
The fans want to win and so do we. We need to get better to make up the nine points but it’s about creating momentum again.
Clement repeated those claims about it being one of his sides best performances of the season during an interview with BBC Scotland and in his general media conference. To be fair, in comparisons to the visits to Tynecastle, Celtic Park, Tannadice and Rugby Park there is some logic in his claim.
With Motherwell and Olympiakos to be faced before their next SPFL match, at home to Hearts on November 10 there is every chance that Clement will be on gardening leave when the Jambos turn up at Ibrox.
The attitude of Clement’s players last night generated as much anger as the result, while Aberdeen battled and scrapped for everything there was virtually no urgency from the visitors led again by Captain Disappointed.
So far, after 17 games this season Tavpen has been on media duty only twice with Jack Butland the regular Steady Eddie put up to explain away the most recent bad results.
Who will be in the home dug out when Celtic visit Ibrox on January 2
Big Phil- he is A Proper Football Manager
Wee Barry- He knows what it is all about
Wee Alex- Biding his time, already in the dug out
MURTY! The only man that knows the job
Bomber- time to restore some traditions and passion
Sir Alex- Bring him home

I truly hope the cuddly bears go easy on PC…
Once he gets back to what he’s good at–bouncy daddy dancing, all will be forgiven!
I’m perplexed that Mr Clem- ohn did not order his squad to trim their finger nails and especially their toe nails before the match against Aberdeen …just to give them more leeway in offside decisions? Silly sausage ! By the way , did anyone hear big fake Kris Boyd mention the £17. 2 million pound loss theRangers made ,when criticising his pet protect when using every conceivable excuse for failure during his customary rant on Sky sports, last night ..me neither ? Funny that… innit ?
