It seems like Ibrox fans are being prepared for the demise of Phil Clement.
Up until the start of April the Belgian was being drooled over as A Proper Football Manager but the coverage has changed dramatically since Sunday’s defeat at Kilmarnock.
The excuse of ‘the cycle of sacking manager’s can’t go on’ has been ditched with no defence being offered for Clement.
Having extended his contract in July for a further year, until May 2028 on his terms, there are massive consequences on the club if they do the inevitable and sack Clement.
As Mark Warburton discovered the dark arts can come into play to get rid of an unwanted manager without having to shell out compensation.
One of the articles on the Rangers Review read:
Alan Hutton knows Rangers manager Philippe Clement is on thin ice if results don’t improve, and fast.
Rangers’ latest loss against Kilmarnock further highlighted the issues that many supporters have witnessed since the start of the new season. And why the Light Blues are already six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen at the Scottish Premiership summit.
Hutton doesn’t want a constant merry-go-round at his old club, but understands that if Rangers fail to gain positive results over the next two weeks then they’ll be serious pressure for the board to act despite giving Clement a contract extension until summer 2028 only a few months ago.
The Rangers Review is the most loyal and supportive of publishers in the modern era, more unquestioning that James Traynor and the Daily Record in their succulent pomp.
Recently recruitment chief Nils Kopen gave an exclusive interview to the Rangers Review, explaining his brilliance in uncovering bang average players like Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Hamza Igamane.
With their stance turning Clement will be getting some awkward analysis but with that new contract still fresh the Belgian Beale won’t be walking away until he is fully compensated.
A big part of Rangers problem is hiring managers’ whose core philosophy is this kind of mid-block, patient, control the ball-control the game European style. It’s overthinking Scottish football and doesn’t work. Took Gerrard three seasons (and Celtic implosion) to work it out.…

Killie had less of the ball but were the better team. Rangers naive in the extreme in their approach. Didn’t compete in the fight, let alone win it. Clement struggling because the fans are clearly turning.

Rangers far too slow in the build up and sloppy in the final third when they get there so far. Passing it around but not working the Killie block enough to tire them. Bajrami very poor.

On that half, and having watched Aberdeen’s organisation, resilience and quality yesterday, you have to say that Rangers should be concerned about even second place. Massive challenge ahead.

0.14xG in a game you need to win. Killie may have less of the ball but they were more threatening than powderpuff Rangers in that 45. pic.twitter.com/oC3EqFqBTX

Clement Freud MUST Stay LOL!!
Lol wee Barry Dingle on a sponsored silence last night on Go Radio with Nark Guiddi doing all the talking to the sevco fan that called in,wee Barry Dingle sat that like the right FUD that he is saying nothing.
On now to wee Quark aka Alex Rae for all the abuse that Kojak gets this klown escapes it all even though he is Kojak’s sidekick and involved with tactics.
Talking of people on sponsored silences just where has auld pishy Victor Meldrew disappeared to after his magical predictions of the weekend aka Spew Heevins,he reminds me of the sketch from Dick Enery with Roy Kinnear father and son, when the catch line in the sketch with them both was,dad a think I got it wrong again.
Raes more like Clements mini me , but uglier , if that’s possible.
should have learned from ange what a brilliant statement that will not go down well with the riot crew or WATP gilligan. imagine having to learn from the tims.
Don’t think the bears have thought this through?
If Clement is punted, and at excessive cost,
then that decision will be ultimately taken by the interim, Executive Chairman,
Gilligan.
And whilst an interim manager could be announced [Rae?],
there would still be an urgent need to appoint another, ‘proper’ manager.
So, could the interim, Executive Chairman be the decision maker again?
He admitted at the outset that he would only be in post for ‘a few months’.
sevco needs a CEO first and foremost – and before Clement’s future can be decided.
…I guess he’ll get punted ASAP! 🙂
The tide on The Clyde had turned…
Flood predicted if they lose to Aberdeen –
Fatal tsunami will drown Fillipe Fillop If Motherwell put them outta The League Cup !
