Kevin Clancy will referee Saturday’s League Cup semi-final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden.
The Glasgow based referee has appeared to slip down the rankings, last season he was overlooked for all five Glasgow Derbies.
So far this season Clancy has only refereed seven matches, on Saturday he was involved in the non-VAR controversy at Dens Park where he had to make a judgement call to award St Johnstone a goal due to the lack of VAR lines.
Clancy refereed Celtic’s League Cup win over Hibs in August, two weeks earlier he was in charge of Aberdeen as they won their opening SPFL match away to St Johnstone.
Celtic will have the backing of more than 30,000 fans at Hampden with three separate ballots releasing tickets to Season Ticket holders.
Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty for Saturday’s match which is played to a finish, Nick Walsh will referee the other semi-final with Alan Muir on VAR duty for Motherwell for the second Sunday running.

I don’t have a scooby who Kevin Clancy supports but he’s been branded ‘Father Clancy’ by a Sevco fan in one of the boozers here so he canny be seen to ‘giving’ Celtic anything…
Fuckin Dallas on the other hand – The Bar Steward doesn’t even try to hide it !
Will be interesting to see Muir’s take on things if a Motherwell player shoves a Sevco one in the box…
No penalty – Nothing to see here… Jog on…
‘Fraid not M’Lord – It’s not The Pesky Fenian so Penalty all day long !
Seriously, given the leanings (or fear) of every ref in Scotland, they could do a random draw for who refs where and the new huns would still be favoured. But, Beaton and Robertson on Wednesday then Walsh and Muir on Sunday……? Utterly fukkin shameless! This is kicking sand in every other club’s faces…….if only we had that guy Lint in the Boardroom instead of the fat slug and the invisible man, FFS!
