BBC Scotland have refused to stump up a token fee to Viaplay Sports to show tonight’s Nations League match between Croatia in Scotland.
In August the state broadcaster found the funds to get exclusive coverage of ‘Rangers’ losing to Dinamo Kiev in a Champions League qualifier but it seems that funds weren’t available for the international team.
BBC Scotland will have their top team of experts and pundits, mainly drawn from the Rangers EBT list on duty today with radio coverage from 2pm through to 7.30pm followed by a couple of hours of hilarious working class banter from Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan, their second set of fees for the day from the state broadcaster.
Viaplay Sports bought the rights to Scotland’s Nations League fixtures but have scaled down their UK operations.
ITV paid out for the September fixtures against Portugal and Poland, this time it seems that no broadcaster has offered a suitable figure with Viaplay putting the game on You Tube despite hundreds of thousands of Scottish people funding the BBC through the TV licence.
Scotland Nations League matches only available on YouTube
Update: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the matches would be broadcast without commentary. This has not been confirmed. https://t.co/hbJs61RB4B— BBC Scotland News (@BBCScotlandNews) October 10, 2024
Kenny Macintyre will be the anchorman for today’s studio coverage from Glasgow with a couple of his Ibrox heroes for company with Billy Dodds, Steven Thompson and Neil McCann the likely lads to slag off Tony Ralston and state the case for Nicky Devlin, Nathan Patterson, Aaron Hickey, Max Johnston, Alan Hutton or James Tavernier to be selected at right-back.
On the ground in Zagreb the BBC are well staffed with reporters out asking boring questions to the Tartan Army as they rack up the expenses following last month’s exercise in Lisbon.
Either Liam McLeod or Alasdair Lamont will provide radio coverage, both are long term Radio Scotland employees that wouldn’t last five minutes in the private sector.
James Faddy McFadden will probably be one of the co-commentators with back up coming from Tom English or Jane Lewis with Cammy Bell or Rory Loy on standby to share their expert analysis.
At match time tonight BBC Scotland will be showing Garden Rescue followed by news then onto episode 3 of Alan Carr’s Picture Slam.
Can you remind me why I’m paying my licence fee again?

No commentary you say? And free you’re telling me? That actually sounds awesome.

Sounds great, free to view game with no annoying commentary, certainly beats the usual BBC coverage

What’s the point of paying you?
You deliver nothing for your fee.#DefundTheBBC

Another perk of being in this lovely union

No surprise the English broadcasting corporation isn’t showing the Scotland game.

Shame all football can’t be watched without commentary. I don’t want to hear an EBT tax fraud (take your pick) slag off Celtic players for no reason or a failed manager like Levein talk about football.

Buncha Bloody C*nts….
Don’t forget the army of producers , sound peeps , techies , brown nosers and goffers required and used too by the BBC Scotland Sportsound in Zagreb covering the game for radio commentary ? Christ ,they even have David ‘ yes it’s me , hold onto your hats ‘ Currie over there too ,trying to justify a wage ! I’m only surprised that they don’t have a freebie slot for their current affairs scoop ,like they had in Seville …..times must be hard !
Watch it on Sky Sports 7 in NZ for TOP CLASS COVERAGE!! Give the BBC Fuk Aw!!
