Alexandro Bernabei was on the scoresheet last night as Internacional drew 2-2 away to Corinthians.
There was a heavy deflection on the defender’s 17th minute shot but if he hadn’t been racing forward to get into position to take the shot.
After falling completely out of contention at Celtic it seems that Bernabei’s loan spell is working wonders with regular football in a top league in front of passionate supporters.
Corinthians had taken a second minute lead but the shot from the on loan Celtic defender silenced the home support as the visitors drew level.
Internacional are currently sitting in sixth place in Serie A with Bernabei making 14 appearances since going out on loan in March.
A resumption of his Celtic career seems highly unlikely with Brendan Rodgers sanctioning the loan deal without having any back-up option for Greg Taylor for the final three months of the season.
Bernabei was signed from Lanus of Argentina in a £3m deal in the summer of 2023. All of the other signings made by Mark Lawwell in that window have left Celtic with Sead Haksabanovic at Malmo, Ben Siegrist with Rapid Bucharest while the loan deals on Moritz Jenz and Oliver Abildgaard were cut short.
Bernabei is under contract with Celtic until May 2028.
