With the boredom and tedium of the international break now at peal levels one You Tuber has decided to provide Celtic fans with a welcome diversion.
The industry and running power of Daizen Maeda has taken on legendary status this season but he also has a more than decent showcase of goals to call on.
Signed on the final day of 2021 by Ange Postecoglou, Maeda didn’t take long to repay his former Yokohama F Marinos boss, scoring five minutes into his debut at home to Hibs as Celtic set off on an amazing run that turned a six point deficit into a six point winning margin as the SPFL Premiership title was reclaimed.
First footing seems to have become a habit with Maeda scoring the first goal of 2023 at Ibrox and again away to St Mirren this year with all three strikes coming in the opening five minutes.
Goals in the Glasgow Derby are always favourites for supporters with Maeda opening the scoring in trademark style in the first Derby match of this season.
Andrew Dallas on VAR duty had dusted down the squinty lines to disallow an early ‘goal’ from Kyogo Furuhashi but he had no solution to Maeda giving James Tavernier a five yard start before beating the Hall of Famer to a cut-back from Alistair Johnston.
With 35 goals so far in his Celtic career by the end of this season the Japanese internationalist could be closing in on 50 by the end of the season as he chases a fourth SPFL Premiership title.
