KILMARNOCK, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 20: Rangers fans hold up a a banner which reads 'No Chairman, No CEO, No Director of Football Operations, No clue, one scapegoat' during a William Hill Premiership match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park, on October 20, 2024, in Kilmarnock, Scotand. Back in August Phil Clement was hurdling over advertising boards to share his joy with the Union Bears after a 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Hampden.
It was a clear moment of cringe, something that the former Monaco boss has been specialising in as he evolves more and more into the staunch culture of his current employers.
When things are going wrong at Ibrox the default option is to lap up and patronise the fans, preferably the Union Bears who seem to have free reign over their club with the club Directors cowering away in fear of their influence.
Sunday at Rugby Park should have been happy and glorious for Clement as he celebrated outlasting Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Micky Beale in the hotseat.
Instead, at the final whistle the players had to applaud as a torrent of abuse was thrown their way with the Sky Sports cameras afraid to linger on the angry bears with their hand gestures easy to interpret.
They don’t take defeat well. You’d think they’d be used to it by now ? pic.twitter.com/rWmvofxhWs

After the match Clement brushed aside the abuse as a normal reaction from fans.
With his own Instagram and Twitter accounts he’ll be made aware that the hostility is mainly aimed at the manager with most bears writing off the players as beyond salvation.
Even the comfort of a four year contract won’t insulate Clement from the anger of supporters, if any of the remaining matches before the November international break are lost it seems inevitable that Alex Rae will step in as Caretaker Manager.

“One Scapegoat”?
Must be something Masonic like shagging a goat or whatever they do there !
