Alexandro Bernabei’s impressive form on loan at Internacional appears to be pushing him out of range for the Brazilian side.
In March the defender went out on loan with no obvious left-back cover to Greg Taylor despite Celtic competing for the SPFL title and Scottish Cup.
On one hand it seemed a high risk strategy but also demonstrated how far down the pecking order Bernabei had dropped under Brendan Rodgers.
The terms of every loan transfer vary fro deal to deal but there was no suggestion of an obligation or option for Internacional to make the move permanent.
Eight months later the Argentinian appears to be one of the form players in the Brazilian league with Internacional Director
Andre Mazzuco Internacional telling The Celtic Way how things stand:
He is one of our main players. It is known that it is a hard deal to be closed due to the contract agreement. That was our possibility at the time. We will do everything possible to keep him.
When we have a player on loan, we don’t have the control. The control is with Celtic. We will make all the effort we can. It is our goal to keep him.
How many Champions League points will Celtic win?
11 points or less
12 points
13 points
14 points or more
When Bernabei was sent out on loan there was little expectation that there would be a significant transfer fee coming in for the defender.
Marco Tilio and Kwon Hyeok-kyu also went out on loan at the start of the year with neither player making much in the way of progress towards a place at Celtic.
The prospect of Barcelona recalling Alex Valle in January is a further dynamic in the issue while Greg Taylor will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement on January 1.

The sevco klub and their mates in the Scottish press all excited about a little bit of loose change heading sevco’s way after their draw last night about £125,000.
Then you have Liam McCloed from radio shortbread flagging up missiles being thrown from Greek fans at sevco fans, with UEFA being called upon to take action.
So just where was McLeod when broken bottles had been scattered on Joe Hart goaline not so long ago, didn’t hear anyone from radio shortbread calling the SFA on that.
Rumours going around that The CHISLER is back in Glasgow this weekend ready to stir up TROUBLE.
His lackies in the media have been briefed on this and are ready to turn their guns on the board.
Another blogger just the other day had put it out there that the chosen few in the media had been called a secret meeting over in ibrox and warned to keep things quiet on the sevco front as they got the heads up The CHISLER was flying in.
