Celtic added €2.1m to their Champions League prize pot thanks to last night’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

The money just seems to roll in from UEFA with €4.9m earned from seven points with a further sum to be decided by the €700,000 left over from the 0-0 draw away to Atalanta, the higher up the Champions League table that Celtic finish the greater their share of the draw ‘left-overs’.

Money comes in from a variety of sources in the Champions League with a €1m bonus within reach for qualifying to the Last 16 Play Off stage.

That would generate a February money-spinner in front of 60,000 fans for the most lucrative match in Celtic’s history.

Reaching the last 16, and a two legged tie against one of the sides in the top eight places would come with a prize fund of €11m- more than double the payment for winning the SPFL Premiership.

Just taking part in this season’s new look eight match league stage pays €18.62m which leaves Celtic sitting on €23.52m, just over £20m with much more still available on top of the cash from four sell out home matches.

On the football front the club is restoring their European co-efficient which will see them seeded in the qualifiers for next season’s competition after three seasons of direct entry.

We have jumped from 17th to 15th in UEFA rankings & with Israel having 1 team Maccabi Tel Aviv they will struggle to stay above us. With a bit of luck for us & bad luck for Austria & Switzerlaand teams we will end up 14th & possibly higher. That win was amazing for our coefficient as above we are seeded in the 2 rounds & next year the aim must be back to 10th where Turkey sit but THAT may be a bridge too far! Ultra proud of my team! ??????

And we have to keep the momentum going,

by mixing the transfers-in with project players

      and higher quality, experienced players.

With each decent CL game, our expectations are rising.

      …and so they should?
