Kevin Clancy turned in another clueless performance at Hampden yesterday, giving the impression throughout that he feels that there are better ways to spend his time.
After rising through the ranks the career of the Glasgow based solicitor seemed to come unstuck last season, he wasn’t selected to take charge of any of the five Glasgow Derbies or cup semi-finals.
His only UEFA jollies were in August when he was put in charge of two Conference League qualifiers.
Willie Collum brought him back into the fold yesterday, his booking of Brendan Rodgers wasn’t the most ridiculous decision of the afternoon.

In the Laws of the Game it is detailed why time is added on beyond the regulation 45 in each half, no exceptions are given, even if the outcome is cut and dried such as one team leading 6-0.
During the first half Clancy added four minutes of stoppage time which was par for the course for a few injury breaks and VAR checks.
The second half involved six breaks for substitutions, three goals, two VAR checks and two stoppages due to injury.

In the build up to Celtic’s second goal Jack McKenzie slid in deliberately late to foul Nicolas Kuhn, he made the intended contact but the Celtic winger completed his pass.
Daizen Maeda was quickly onto it, his pace panicked the Aberdeen defence with the move finished in style by Kyogo Furuhashi.
Clancy took no action against McKenzie, in contrast to an earlier booking for Callum McGregor.

It wasn’t even a foul but for his own reasons Clancy decided to book McGregor after 25 minutes after a challenge on Sivert Nilsen while awarding Aberdeen a free kick 35 yards from goal.
Nilsen had already been involved a couple of times with Arne Engels, right in front of the referee he collapsed theatrically to the ground before recovering after seeing the yellow card given to an opponent.
Booking the Celtic skipper midway through the first half takes an edge from McGregor’s game, once again Graeme Shinnie avoided being booked against Celtic despite the usual succession of late fouls.
