Phil Clement has claimed that he is very happy that Patrick Stewart is about to be appointed as the CEO at Ibrox.
After seven months without leadership Stewart takes up his job on December 16 with many Ibrox fans expecting a new management team to arrive as part of the package.
Backing for Clement has virtually evaporated among fans with criticism of his style of play matching the attacks on results that sees the club sitting in third place in a two horse race.
Since James Bisgrove walked away in May Clement has largely escaped internal scrutiny despite dismal results on the back of a £15m summer spending spree.
Fans have been voting with their feet with crowds dwindling at Ibrox while Clement reels out the excuses for results of his exciting young team.
Back to back matches against Spurs and Celtic are looking ominous for Clement but with a contract that runs until May 2028 he is blocking out all chat about his dismissal.
I had a meeting with a new CEO. That was a really good talk, and that’s it.
Clement quickly added to the obvious question:
No, I cannot go in detail about that. It’s about my experience, about this year in the club, and what are the things that were good, and what are the things to improve.
It’s a very important thing (appointment), because the last couple of months there was a big vacuum in the club, and a lot of things could not be decided at that moment, because there was nobody to decide those kind of things.
So I’m really happy that Patrick is here now.
We had a really good talk about everything, about the past year, my experiences and he is doing that with all the people in the club to make a good analysis so that he can start in a good way, halfway through December, I think, so that we can make a step forward again.
Because, of course, for any club in the world, it’s not good to be in that kind of vacuum situation.
After tonight’s match against Nice Clement faces a busy schedule of St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County before he prepares his exciting young squad for the double header against Spurs and Celtic.

It will be interesting to hear about the conversation between Mr Clem – ohn and Lord Offload , if the new Chairman takes up his post in December ? Oh ,to be a fly on the wall then ….
Doesn’t make sense for the incoming CEO to fire the manager immediately.
If Stewart did that, then it would be not be his decision, but doing what he is told by
other people?
He’s supposed to bring calm and control to the business, so a period to get to know the
football manager would be sensible: even of he’s fired anyway at a later date?
And who would replace Clement? Rae? A.N.Other manager who has no transfer budget?
The bears might realise too late that Clement was the better option than his
successor…?
