Steven McLean will referee Saturday’s match between Hearts and Celtic at Tynecastle.
Despite being a familiar face in the top flight, Saturday’s match will just be McLean’s fourth Premiership match of the season, for some reason he never took charge of a fixture until October 5.
The evening kick-off will be shown live on Sky Sports with the fixture generally one of the most heated in the SPFL Premiership.
Celtic have suffered only one domestic defeat this season, back in March away to Hearts in a match dripping with controversy.
Don Robertson sent off Yang Hyun-jun early in the match then awarded Hearts a penalty with both decisions prompted by John Beaton on VAR.
After the match Brendan Rodgers described Beaton as incompetent, an action that led to a one match touchline ban.
Greg Aitken will be on VAR duty on Saturday, in the opening fixture of the season the SFA announced that he had wrongly denied Celtic a penalty following an foul on Kyogo Furuhashi by Robbie McCrorie.
Rodgers should find out the availability of players at some stage tomorrow with Japan currently in action against China with Canada, the USA and Honduras in action over the next 15 hours.
With Aberdeen playing away to St Mirren on Saturday afternoon, referee John Beaton, Celtic could kick-off at Tynecastle sitting in second place.

Did his brother not once play for the huns?
Hmmmmm.
Bringing out the bigits for one of the most spiteful ground in spl Neil lennon was assaulted on pitch side players spat and abused from pitch so close to supporters who some only turn up for this game we won’t have many supporters cause some person thinks it is better to hear there own supporters to influence referee with the once picked lately they don’t need much support to let ref be unprofessional that’s what it is and every referee watching not only spl must no why no one trust them yes they embarrass good refs that are professional then they see what goes on with decision against Celtic FC if we do get a 50 50 it’s highlighted by scottish media and we have a ref that missed a hand ball on the line every person at hampden park seen but no officail that’s just one of many by them is ref
Reckon that is spot on there, |Jack. Every person in Hampden Park saw that handball -except the six Officials whose job it was to see it.
What a farce!
They will cost Celtic points sooner rather than later for sure…
Maybe on Saturday or maybe not –
But it very much IS coming in the post to Celtic for sure !!!
