Ally McCoist has jumped on board the GAP IS CLOSING express being driven by Graeme Souness with Robin Propper as a fellow passenger.
The cheeky chappy suffered through yesterday’s defeat at Hampden as Celtic strengthened their position as Scotland’s most successful club.
Despite being well short of their best and up against the in-form side in the country Brendan Rodgers’ squad handed out another painful lesson to James Tavernier and friends.
Celtic dominated though extra-time but some strange officiating by John Beaton kept playing time to a minimum as the match went into a penalty shoot out.
Cyriel Dessers and Connoe Barron went AWOL as Adam Idah, Callum McGregor, Arne Engels, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda netted to bring the trophy back to Celtic Park.
Super Jack Butland barely got a sniff at the penalties as the Celtic stars stunned and silenced the angry bears behind Butland’s goal.
Celtic took the trophy and winners medals while McCoist and the usual suspects clutched at straws as Scotland’s most successful club strode further into the distance.
McCoist was co-hosting the breakfast show on TalkSPORT this morning, listening in The Sun reported a trademark reply to the question of whether the gap is closing.
Absolutely, Jeff. I mean, clearly disappointed as you want to win the Old Firm game. That goes without saying.
But the level of improvement in the last couple of games, the Spurs game and the game yesterday, yes, pretty evident.
So, as disappointed as they’ll be, and they will be, I’m very disappointed myself, I’ve got to say, the upturn in form in the last two games, hopefully, is really encouraging.
I’ll tell you what Fletch, Celtic have won 20 of the last 25 domestic trophies and are on course for their sixth treble in nine years. Ab Sol Utely.

Think it is unfair that the penalties should be taken in front of one set of supporters on the toss of a coin. Both goals should be used given each team a chance to take theirs in front of their own fans.
You wonder what those wasters in the SFA do all day.
“You wonder what those wasters in the SFA do all day.”
Launch foul plots to promote suitably staunch members of the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association at the expense of aspiring whistlers from anywhere else in the country?
It’s the hope that kills them, every single time. We win at iBrox a fortnight on Thursday – there is no reason why we can’t – and it’s back to wailing and gnashing of teeth over there again and wanting Phillipe burned at the stake….. this whole ‘he needs more time’ narrative can be torpedoed in a single football match.
Editor: They can hang on to yesterday’s success now that the But What About Dortmund yarn is getting a bit stale.
Let them think what they like, they threw everything they had at Celtic yesterday. A Celtic side that didn’t show up, save for ten minutes after half time and they still failed. The best they can produce can’t get the better of the worst performance of this Celtic side all season and that should have them panic stricken for what lies ahead. The gap is wider than ever…don’t be kidded by the cheerleaders.
Great comment, Big Den, their best our (next to) worst and we still win the cup. Well said Pal!
Aye ,sure the distance between Celtic FC and theRangers was as far away as Neptune is from the Earth … 4,4 Billion Kilometres. The tribute act have reduced it to the distance between the Earth and Uranus …2. 7 Billion kilometres…slowly but surely ,eah …. Just wait till big Pip gets going in February !
Yilmaz certainly made a Uranas of it at the Penalty Shoot Out…
Shat it – And made Arse of it ! (Thankfully tee hee hee) !!!

It has to be said Jeff…Fat Sally is a FUD.
We now have our very own COMICAL ALI,no need for Saddam’s imposter.
11 points clear in the league, way out in front on the trophy count and going further clear into the horizon, and wee Ali Dingle comes out with this shite.
Again Fat Sally is deluded Celtic never turned up yesterday, poorest performance in long time,in fact we have been poor for most of the season,Yet McCoist thinks the gap is getting smaller the gap is as wide as cheeky chappie mouth, and that enormous HH
Yesterday’s game was a spectacular occasion to put it mildly. The smoke hanging over the ground from the start gave the impression of a battlefield, which it certainly was. Watching the game in a crowded bar in Murrays on O’Connell Street I got the impression that Sky TV were set up for a Sevco win. A quick shot of Daizen’s family when he scored that cracker of a goal was all Celtic fans got. The rest of the time it was all Sevo crowd scenes. I turned on Sky Sport about mid-day today and watched an interview, staged outside Ibrox, a guy from the Rangers Review whinging about penalties not given, hard luck stories to ‘beat the band’ etc. Fuck them, they deserve all the grief that comes their way.
Whit you said…
Ed., thanks for that pic of Sally, it blows the “cheekie chappie” shit right out the window and exposes the wee rat perfectly for what he is.
Somebody mentioned some distances before, including Uranus. Well that sleekit wee rat’s mouth isnae far fae Hisanus and there’s nothing but shite comes out of both.
Monarch-loving, new hun loving, Ludge-loving, sycophantic, grovelling little shit. I’d love a coupla minutes ‘outside’ with him. Absolute turd.
