Celtic head to Ibrox on Thursday 14 points ahead of Phil Clement’s exciting young side.
While the hoops beat St Johnstone 4-0 at home down the M74 there was another four goal thriller at Fir Park with Motherwell having to settle for a2-2 draw after leading 2-0 at the break.
Kevin Clancy conjured up 12 minutes of stoppage time but the home side held on for a deserved point.
At the start of this week the Gullible & Deluded had the gap down to six points after enjoying three successive victories.
On the back of losing 2-1 at St Mirren Clement’s side dropped two more points on the road despite making seven changes to the starting XI that failed in Paisley.
Ianis Hagi pulled out with a virus this morning but it will be the form of Super Jack Butland that is causing Clement further concern.
After chucking away a penalty at St Mirren on Thursday Butland went down in instalments as Apostolos Stamatelopoulous slotted the ball under the former Crystal Palace reserve.
With the score at 2-1 Butland punched a corner into his own net but Clancy was there to rescue him by disallowing for a mystery infringement.
Substitute Hamza Igamane scored his second goal to equalise in the 68th minute but despite adding 10 minutes then a further two there was no further scoring.
On Thursday Clement faces Celtic for the seventh time and looking for his first victory over Brendan Rodgers, if that stat remains in place it seems inevitable that newly installed CEO Paddy Stewart will be looking for a new manager.

Clancy what a clear and obvious biased official. Lord knows what levels of pish will surface at the derby.
Only 2 things you need t,o know about the huns: they’re cheating bastards and stupid cunts.
The whole point of the ‘assisted progression’ facilitated by the MIBs / VARMEN is that because Der Hun are
Stoopid Knuts they need to be Cheetin Barstewards to be relevant.
Without the haunders from the SFA / LRA Officials the Ibrox Outfit would be a mid table Klub at best and that doesn’t fit in with their Entitled, Supremacist mindset.
When you’re used to generations of positive bias in the System then equality and reliance on Meritocracy can feel like Oppression. Long may it continue.
Pure slap-stick from Baby Face. Cue sirens for Referee Intervention.
“What Happened?”
Looks like we’ll just chalk it off! No objections?
Okay-kokay!
A 3-1 scoreline would have sickened even the most despotic of loyal Huns!
Clancy the coward.
Lol listening to SSB there was comedy gold, the full panel all talking over each other, everyone of them fuming with the result.
Then auld Spew Heevins remember him him calling the sevco manage a proper manager, now he is sitting their leaving baldy without a name and calling a DUFF manager, from proper manager to DUFF manager,I blame the schools.
Then you had a hun caller on,Stevie the FUD,a possible stuntman for Sam Dingle, everything went against his team today and all season the officials are joke he said as is VAR,his quote on VAR,VIDEO AGAINST RANGERS.
This arsehole then said the Motherwell goals should not have stood, when Gordon Duncan said what about the goal Butland put into his own goal as an OG,mad Stevie the stuntman for Sam Dingle said well that’s funny that I never saw that incident, this is what your up against and to think he is breeding.
Clemmentts says now he believes in VAR. I mean,
Pull The Other One!
Ding-Dong! Ding-Dong!
So can we expect a statement from Fir Park demanding an apology, a replay and the heads of the onfield and VAR officials on a silver plate after ‘Well were robbed of a win against Sevco? Will we also get a week to ten days of constant media coverage of this great VAR travesty to support their statement? Or is that reserved for clubs that know the dodgy handshake?
Hopefully Aberdeen win and take second place tonight just to sicken the klanbase and ruin their new year.
Looked very much like Rangers must win, regardless of how many motherwell score.
It certainly cannot be ‘Rangers’ must win Joe as they have been been deceased since 2012 !
clement will limp on to about march , they know the league is gone , mutt and jeff two bumps on a log will get the gig and a promise to the sevco fans that a new manager will come in for next season , all this just to get the season books renewed and over the line , they are bollixed !!! chortle
Will be interesting to see what nonsense stories come out of sevco / SMSM before Thursday’s game.
Clement might go all out to win the ‘mind games cup’?
The SMSM might try to drum any old story to try and unsettle the Champions?
And it could also be useful deflection from the poverty of sevco’s team – and squad.
Talk is all they’ve got at ibrox.
On my bingo card I’m going for a Dave King-style ranting statement – about some ‘perceived’ slight on sevco… ?
