GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - DECEMBER 15: Celtic's Liam Scales (R) pulls down Rangers' Vaclav Cerny at the edge of the penalty box during the Premier Sports Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park, on December 15, 2024, in Glasgow, Scotland. The angry bears had barely left Hampden and they were clutching at straws and excuses, a favoured tactic for Phil The Deflector Clement.
After his latest failure against Celtic there was no mention of a Moral Victory, the xG or even the recent 6-0 win over Kilmarnock.
With no scrutiny whatsoever Clement went on a rant about a free kick that his side was awarded, apparently his phone had been swamped with messages about the scandalous denial of a penalty for the shirt pull on Vaclav Cerny by Liam Scales.
In any other country in Europe Clement would have an open and shut case over the penalty. Cerny’s shirt was pulled, his foot was on the line of the penalty box.
Unfortunately for Clement, John Beaton refereed the match, as soon as Scales tackled for the ball the man from The Crown Bar in Bellshill was blowing to give his team a free kick.
Alan Muir on VAR didn’t have the chance to review the shirt pull, if only Beaton had paused a second or two it could have gone to VAR with the ball safely put in the hands of James Tavernier.

Without any prompting Clement’s post match interview was full on paranoia without a contradictory question from the Scottish media pack.
The Belgian boss even pleaded with his audience to dig into the issue, not a trait that you’d normally associate with legacy media outlets
But my phone is full of messages from everybody. I don’t know, those are things I cannot control but I know that all of you like to dig deep into things.
So maybe it’s a very important moment to dig into. Why was there no communication in that moment?
Because it’s clear for everybody it’s a game-decisive decision. I would not like to be here to speak about the penalty because I want to speak about the team.
Clement’s exciting young team can now concentrate on turning round Celtic’s 11 point advantage at the top of the SPFL Premiership with eight matches to be played over the next month.

Comical Ali insists the gap is closing between the 2 clubs, but it isn’t.the.
The gap is still as wide as his wage packet when comparing it with other managers salaries at that time when the newco had been playing in the lower divisions.
So Jobby Sadden is in a huff because his team never got the penalty,as if this KLOWNS opinion matters.
This will be the same ref that jumped ship from being a ref in Scotland because VAR was on it’s way.
He ended doing 1 season in league 2 in England, got found out that he is shite at the job,and they bagged him.
Now why would anyone take this FUD for real.
They’ll be piles and piles and piles of Scummy Scottish Football Media work for The Boaby Mad Hun this week for certain !
Take it the rules are that once he’s given the free kick it cannot be undone…
It was outside the box at first contact – He flung himself into the area thereafter –
If he hadn’t been so dishonest trying to con Beaton – He might have got it !
That is as clear as can be. No penalty.
I am a great fan of Scales but, like Ambrose, talented but is capable of that little moment of madness.
Hatate reminds me of a sketch from the American comedy show SNL which parodied the US Security series “Homeland”.
A boss is insisting the main female protagonist does the suspect interrogation and claims, “She has only let me down every time I have trusted her, give me one good reason not to trust her again.”
Yes, he is capable of that one killer pass but you are basically starting and playing with ten men and it would possibly make more sense to bring him on 10 mins to go against tired legs which would be unable to intercept his “telegraphed” passes.
3 weeks ago the media were hounding this guy out to get their pet McInnes in
and talking about the cup final being Clements last chance saloon .
Loses the cup final and they’re all jumping to his tune to ‘ Dig in ‘
