Kris Boyd is back on board the James Tavernier bandwagon. Singing the praises of the legendary Ibrox skipper.
Three trophies in nine seasons left the former Wigan utility player disappointed during the summer with a ferocious plan stepped up to get Steven Gerrard to take him to Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
With zero interest from any other club the skipper dug in knowing that he is due a Testimonial Match next summer with a World Select including Martyn Waghorn, Andy Halliday, Carlos Pena, Jason Holt. Josh Windass and Barry Mackay all expected back at Ibrox to pay tribute to Tavpen.
After losing 3-0 to Celtic in September Boyd’s high pitched meltdown went global with that scene repeated following the defeats at Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.
Now after four matches without defeat Boyd has flip-flopped back in favour of Tavernier, delivering a stirring endorsement to readers of The Sun:
BEFORE Rangers’ draw with Tottenham, I thought James Tavernier had no chance of facing Celtic on Sunday.
Now I don’t see how the Ibrox captain can be dropped for the Premier Sports Cup final.
For me, that meant starting Tavernier in Europe — and playing Dujon Sterling at right-back in the Old Firm final.
But the Gers skipper was just outstanding as Clement’s side delivered their best display of the season against the Premier League outfit.
He set up Hamza Igamane’s goal, and was solid against Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Son Heung-min.
Judging anyone against a totally switched off Spurs side is a dangerous business, on the back of recent results and comments from Ange Postecoglou it seems that a change in manager is inevitable.
Tav of course has scored more goals against Celtic than the Sun’s star columnist who managed just one, goal, in a 2006 dead rubber, against Scotland’s most successful club during his illustrious career.
Have they started the £50 million for Igamane bullshit yet?
Editor: Not yet but he is already an upgrade on Alfredo ‘Dembele Dollars’ Morelos.
Fk me , even spew heevins called spurs atrocious.
Boyd’s got more faces than a town clock.
Slightly off topic.. but once again Sevco come up against opposition who are in turmoil…Speaking as a former left winger…If I had been playing like Werner I’d have subbed myself…Sevco carry more luck than luck itself…Spurs didn’t seem too interested.. and Ange seems to have lost the dressing room…Can’t see him lasting too much longer.
“Kris Boyd makes remarkable flip flop’
Aye there is a lot of Fillipe Fillop blarney at Liebrox for sure !
