Two days after playing 90 plus minutes against Motherwell it has been announced that James Tavernier will miss Thursday’s match against Celtic through injury.
After the draw at Motherwell Tavernier was put up to string together the cliches and excuses to the media with no mention of any injury.
The 33-year-old was out of favour for a short spell last month but he has started 26 matches in total this season including 16 of the 18 matches in the SPFL
Tavernier has barely suffered an injury during his nine seasons of failure at Ibrox but on the eve of playing against Celtic he is now facing a couple of weeks on the sidelines.
Phil Clement revealed that a scan had revealed an injury but no detail was offered with none of the reporters at the broadcast media conference asking what the actual injury is.
Well, if you look at the running stats, I don’t see any of that. Obviously the lads are pushing completely to the end.
You’ve seen that at Motherwell, that the lads were pushing completely to the end of the final whistle.
But it’s obviously small details about not giving goals away and obviously being more clinical in their box.
I think we maybe rushed a bit too much in the second-half.
We obviously we got level and we could have maybe asked different questions, maybe moved the ball a bit more around the box.
And it’s just obviously small details like that, that makes a difference.
With Leon Balogun a major doubt for Thursday’s match it looks like Clement’s defence will consist of Dujon Sterling, Leon King, Robin Propper and Jefte.
Super Jack Butland will be the captain against Celtic, a role that he has been angling for since the pre-season training camp in Holland.

Tavpen was seen clutching his hamstring at the end of the Motherwell match when they were applauding their fans. No doubt an early nightmare when he thought about facing Daizen
Captain disappointed, sent out to do media duties still, despite having this so called injury at the end of the motherwell match?
And on a so called rest day yesterday, an injury is found, that keeps captain disappointed on the missing list for the next few weeks?
Something stinks, and more than captain disappointed shorts at the thought of facing Maeda again?
Poor sevco, missing the record breaking champion of silver medals aka ” losers medals ” makes no difference.
Hope he’s back next year to collect the usual loser stuff, perhaps this time it could be Bronze!!
Well now – Who The F**k is gonna step forward to take The Penalties for Sevco…
Because as sure as night follows day they’re getting them !
he’s a very average player , BR put a stop to that brazen beatons gallop and ended tavpens penalties , BR ‘S willl be remembered for the on field prowess of his teams , but what he’s done in the back ground has dismantled the cabal of cheating cnunts and of which there is no return for the billies !! , tavpen took a dive simply , he’ll not be the fall guy for the wild bears !!!! chortle chortle !!
I imagine Maeda will be “disappointed” at this news.
Total unrest in the dressing room with Arseland demanding the armband.
Apparently Tav spat the dummy out,now the dressing room is split, half for Tav the others for Arseland.
Watch in the coming days as mega money is mentioned for the sale of Morrocan Messi.
