Don Robertson will referee Thursday’s Glasgow Derby.
It will be the third time that the Glasgow based official has been put in charge of the fixture after being the man in the middle at the April 2023 Scottish Cup semi-final followed by Celtic’s 1-0 win at Ibrox in September of that year.
John Beaton has refereed both of the Derby matches this season, and three of the last five but steps aside for Thursday’s match.
Nick Walsh, who has refereed the match a number of times will be on VAR.
Celtic go to Ibrox with a 14 point lead which takes a large part of the sting out of the fixture with Brendan Rodgers having a personal record of just one defeat in 20 Derby matches.
After being without a couple of players in the 0-0 draw at Dundee United on December 22 Rodgers had a full squad to choose from for the 4-0 home win over St Johnstone with no injuries reported after the match.

Robertson has form for facilitating this.
I’ll take a few brickbats for this but that’s not the worst combination. Robertson has a tendency to let everything go – misses fouls in the build up to goals and issues yellows for obvious straight red fouls, while Walsh is quite a pedantic referee, so combining them sometimes works – the ref misses everything (clear & obvious errors) allowing VAR to correct the errors. We’ll see what their instructions are on Thursday…..
They aren’t overly anti Celtic so much as Beaton, Muir and Dickinson are…
Robertson though is very very lenient to a very bad fault –
Cue therefore – Assault after Assault after Assault on Thursday…
