Brendan Rodgers saluted the perseverance and ability of his Celtic players following their 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
On a grim night of driving rain the match was ruined as a spectacle which suited the home side with Celtic’s usual passing game a casualty for most of the 90 plus minutes.
Paulo Bernardo put the ball into the net direct from a corner just before half-time but his effort was disallowed by Don Robertson for a foul on Ross Doohan.
The former Celtic keeper twice foiled substitute Adam Idah midway through the second half but was unable to prevent Reio Hatate scoring with the one genuine moment of quality in the match.
Greg Taylor popped through a brilliant pass that Hatate took on the run then placed a low shot across Doohan on the half volley.
As It Stands had Celtic seven points clear at that point with a game less played, the 90 minutes plus four of stoppage time brought no further scoring as the Celtic players and fans celebrated at the final whistle.

I thought that we controlled most of the game, controlled the main moments. Of course there is one or two that you are going to have to defend and then we end up getting a fantastic team goal.
A great pass from Greg Taylor coming in that inside position then a wonderful finish by Reo. I thought, on a really difficult night, a tough place to come, to get the clean sheet, to get the win, I thought it was deserved.
On Saturday Celtic are at home to Hibs in the SPFL followed by two huge matches in the Champions League and League Cup Final.
