Rayo Vallecano are keen to take Luis Palma on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

The Honduran internationalist has only started one SPFL Premiership match this season but has came off the bench in the home wins over St Mirren and Dundee United.

For most of this season Palma and Yang Hyeun-jun have been jousting to see who is fourth choice winger but with James Forrest out for the remainder of this month and Nicolas Kuhn injured in the warm up last night his services may be required for the matches away to Ross County and Dundee.

Medium term it is hard to see Palma returning to favour after a massive tail-off during 2024 but at this moment Celtic may want to delay any deal to lose a winger.

At 2.39pm this afternoon in the Daily Mail McGowan explained:

Rayo Vallecano have opened talks over a loan move for Celtic winger Luis Palma.

And the Spanish club want a purchase option allowing them to buy the Honduran international for £2.1million.

Brendan Rodgers is narrowing down the search for a new left winger this month.

And, despite appearing as a second-half substitute in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Dundee United on Wednesday night, the 24-year-old has slipped down the pecking order and wants to try his luck elsewhere.

Linked with clubs in MLS, Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo claim Vallecano have already secured Palma’s agreement.

They will now enter negotiations with Celtic in a quest to finalise a deal.

If the deal goes through it would seem certain that another winger is about to be signed, so far there hasn’t been much in the way of solid speculation over January arrivals.

Last year Kuhn joined from Rapid Vienna on January 16 with Adam Idah coming in on loan on the 31st.

Palma is under contract until May 2028, Rayo Vallecano are sitting in 12th place in the 20 team La Liga.

Yang should be first winger out the door he has done nothing with a lot of game time and his stats are shocking.Do not see why he is constantly played by Rodger’s,he makes Mickey Johnstone look like a world beater.Palma done more in 10 minutes last night than Yang did in an hour.

He must show more in training. Feel sorry for the kid .. he needs desperately a loan where he can play 30 plus matches a season (just as Mikey needed in his second season) then we can judge if he can play at this level … pity there is no reserve league there in Scotland
