There is a great way of defusing tension- it is called humour.

Since the final whistle blew on Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Mirren Brendan Rodgers has held two media conferences where the attitude and reactions of Celtic supporters has been criticised.

With temperatures around minus seven in Glasgow last night and with a cut price TV stream available to Season Ticket holders the crowd for the match against Dundee United was noticeably down. Midweek January fixtures are never popular.

While the media and other outsiders waited on the songs and chants from The Green Brigade to see if there was another twist to the story involving the runaway SPFL leaders.

There was another twist but not one that had been expected. It started early in the second half as the fans chanted noisily about Henrik Larsson being the King of Kings.

That was just the start.

Artur Boruc, Victor Wanyama, Charlie Mulgrew, Georgos Sameras and other 21st century favourites suddenly found themselves involved again.

On the park Celtic won 2-0 with goals from Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.

The last song of the night was dedicated to Hatate, perhaps it is overdue for Maeda to have his own song with his 2024 achievements offering plenty of source material.

    For the record…
I watch every game…I groan when a pass goes back instead of forward…I snarl when the final pass is under hit or overhit…I pull what’s left of my hair out when we fanny about at the back….I question BR’s tactics…team selection…substitutions.
I admit it…I do all that.
Then I look at the League table…check our standing in the CL…remember we’re the most successful team in Scotland…EVER….and I say…
    “Terence…shut the feck up…
‘Til the next game at least !!”
    Mon The Hoops.
