Celtic have issued a statement to their media partners at the Daily Record over the incidents at Ibrox today.
There is no comment on the Celtic website or on the club’s social media channels about the incidents.
In the 87th minute Arne Engels was felled by a coin while he prepared to take a corner kick, there was no additional protection given to the Celtic players as their team-mate received treatment.
A predictable chant about ‘Glory, Glory’ went up from the home supporters who had no visiting fans to target with missiles.
It has also emerged that Brendan Rodgers was struck by a missile, tonight at 7.49pm the Daily Record reported:
But Record Sport understand that wasn’t the extent of it with Rodgers also targeted in a second disgusting incident. A statement from the Parkhead club reads: “We understand that Police Scotland are currently investigating 2 separate incidents. The repeated targeting of our players and staff with missiles is quite appalling and completely unacceptable.”

The Ibrox club also briefed their media partners about their disgust over the Engels incident, it remains to be seen whether their CCTV coverage can identify who threw the coin, it will either be a Season Ticket holder or a My Gers member.
In April 2022 a Celtic physio suffered permanent disfigurement from a glass bottle thrown by an Ibrox corporate client, at the same match glass appeared in Joe Hart’s goalmouth during the half-time break that was missed by the Ground Staff who were on the pitch at the time.
At the 2021 Celtic AGM Michael Nicholson explained why the club renewed their cherished Old Firm trademark, in March 2022 he signed Celtic up for the Sydney Super Cup with their city rivals who later pulled out due to fan protests about the venture.

At what point does the SFA or SPFL actually intervene where ‘the Rangers’ are concerned? They can’t guarantee player safety within their stadium and blame can’t be shrugged off anymore. No excuses today sevco deserved to win that game,they wanted it more than us,and they proved that by getting to every ball first before us.

Absolute shitshow performance by us and we got what we deserved in terms of the result. However, this incident was absolutely shocking and while it can never be condoned, the fact that they were three up with about 2-3 mins of normal time left when this retarded fuckwit threw the object at Engels just beggars belief. It is also shocking that while the Huns have condemned this idiot, they didn’t seem to do anything to protect the players.
Normally you would have stewards rushing over to form a barrier to protect the players and officials from further attack and to ensure that you have a better chance of identifying anyone else throwing stuff, but no. It was left to our players to shield Engels while he was down on the ground, while the retarded orcs behind them carried on their abuse and threatening behaviour. More than one of the raging, red-faced mutants down at the front looked ready to come onto the pitch and have a go at that point too.
This is why we should not accept tickets for away fans in such small numbers (or offer them). Unless you get allocated a whole stand, you are just a sitting duck for these morons to target with coins and even bottles and things, such is the pathetic standard of security a that shithole.

The police never get to the bottom of these incidents and this is no different. Statements coming out of Ibrox are meaningless and insincere as nothing will be done to improve matters.
Doncaster, Maxwell, and others at the SFA/SPFL are trying to promote Scottish football “they tell us”. If they do NOTHING about the latest dangerous goings on at “the rangers”. Don’t know bout anyone else but that result was no surprise to me, I like Hatate as a player but he lacks concentration and his control of the ball is appalling at times, one or two brilliant moments aren’t worth the amount of mistakes he makes, the team has lacked grunt for far too long, wee miss a Lenny or a Broony who took the game by the scruff of the neck, that was the obvious difference between the two teams for me, we lacked passion and desire, and not for the first time either, sometimes just having the best players is enough to get by, but when your in a scrap you need fighters, and other than AJ, we don’t have players like that. No fan can expect their team just to keep on winning, but how you lose leaves a lasting impression. Their players wanted it, ours didn’t seem that bothered.
I agree with all you said…but at the risk of repeating myself.. We will win most of our games when teams park the bus and allow us to stroll forward from the back…We will struggle badly in games, however, when the opposition get in our faces and force us into quick suicidal passes…Scales and Hatate gave a master class in this yesterday…along with a few others…Surely BR must see this as well…and produce an alternative.?…I could not believe what I was watching yesterday…and I sincerely hope I don’t ever have to watch it again…Ring the changes when needed BR…it’s what your paid for.
