A fortnight into the January transfer window Phil Clement is still waiting to bring in his first signing.
A year ago Fabio Silva had already been delivered before the January transfer window officially opened but trailing Celtic by 15 points it seems like the Belgian will have to work his magic on his exciting young squad.
Hamza Igamane and Clinton Nsilala are currently getting the fawning media coverage that Connor Barron was getting at the start of the season, while those signings will outlast their manager none are likely to get near a winner’s medal this season.
During the summer Clement made it clear that the goalposts had been moved in terms of his budget, despite that he extended his contract which leaves him as a hostage to the Ibrox hierarchy.
After a dodgy start to the season culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Celtic the pressure was on the Ibrox board to sack Clement.
In September Sky Sports News were given an exclusive interview with Caretaker Chairman John Gilligan where empty promises were made.
?? “I’ll put myself on the line here and say we are backing this manager.”

We’re trying to bring stability to the player trading model to try to improve it and I think the manager we’ve got is the man to do that.
There will be [money for Clement to spend in January]. I think with any manager at any football club, if you can sell and make a profit then it helps with the buying. It doesn’t depend on it but it certainly adds to it and helps with the whole opportunity of improving.
We keep talking about the player trading model because ideally we want to be able to bring in players and get them to play properly for the team and do well, but hopefully we sell them on and reinvest.
We’ll have accounts coming out quite soon and at the AGM, it will become apparent that the financial sustainability is solid.
It seems that there is a stand-off inside Ibrox as Clement requests players of a better standard than Recruitment Chief Nils Koppen is putting forward.
Last week Jamaican defender Dick King was given the full treatment in the Daily Record but with just one incoming loan expected Clement won’t be wasting that on a hopeful punt that looks completely unsuited to Scottish football.

The sensible, financial option is not to bring in anyone this window, at all.
In the summer, the squad could be reduced in size,
and players should be sold before anyone can be signed,
on a lower wage – and on a free transfer, or loan.
More academy [free] players could be promoted to the first team squad.
RIFC has to drastically change its operations if it is EVER going to break even.
But, will the bears accept an extended austerity period – and an extended period of failure?
Will the bears continue to buy their ST’s, match tickets and ibrox merchandise…?
I hope they go bust again…..what a hoot that will be and who will the onion brats back then?
How does another annual loss of £17m in the accounts he refers to with an even bigger one likely in the ones for this financial year equate to it becoming “ apparent that the financial sustainability is solid.” The only solids at Ibrox are the shite they come out with.
The Onion Bangers is what they are now reduced to and it is hilarious.
BTW. Clement resembles more and more a Gerry Anderson swivel eyed puppet villain.
I wonder how many of The Onion Bangers are actually Fae Banger !
So what happens if Kojak gets the sack, and as people are talking about bringing in REAL RANJURZ men like the CHUCKLE BROTHERS wee Quark and Benjamin Ferguson and it gets worse than it is just now, what then for the new klub at ibrox.
STAUNCH people in charge and they are still Friar Tucked,I reckon the game would be a bogey and the shutters would be pulled down once and for all.
So the Sillyman sorry Tillman story is doing the rounds again remember it,the player sevco got onloan from Bayern but Bayern had to money to sevco to take their own player back after the loan deal,a million quid was mentioned at the time that sevco apparently received, check back on the books for that season then and see if the money is in their accounts,if it’s not there then someone has F****D off with it.
Apparently now Tillman is on the move again from PSV and sevco are to bank £3.5-£7.5 million with the sell on clause.
Lol who the F**K do they expect to believe this shite.
They don’t need to buy any players anymore just bring them all onloan to ibrox for a few nonths and then when they go back to their parent club, sevco can cash in on the sell on even though the players have F**K all to with sevco,no paperwork no contract absolutely JACKSHIT,but hey it balances the books.
Who ? the PEOPLE who take regular big doses of deludamol, that’s who !! It’s not a fruitless exercise; although even those people are beginning to realise the truth. Apparently, a very disorganised walkout yesterday at Ibrox in the 55th minute. That board is between a rock and a hardplace.
A planned walkout on the 55th minute, you would be lucky if 55 of them where in the stadium going by how many walked out.
I think the Ibrox hierarchy may be a hostage to him…Do they have the money to bag him…??…Interesting times.
they cannot go bust again that was the old club who ceased to exist,
