Peter Schmeichel has given an incredible endorsement to Celtic after spending half a season watching his son playing for the Scottish champions.

After leaving Leicester City for stints at Nice and Anderlecht it looked like Kasper’s club career was winding down, away from the spotlight at some interesting destinations.

Joe Hart’s decision to reture left a massive hole at Celtic but a Leicester City reunion with Brendan Rodgers has turned out to be inspired.

Schmeichel’s distribution is the perfect match for Celtic’s style of play, his shot stopping remains as sharp as ever with the demands of Celtic ensuring that Schmeichel’s standards haven’t dipped at the age of 38.

Dad Peter has always been a looming presence in Kasper’s career, his comments seem like the ideal recruitment tool for anyone offered the chance to join Celtic.

Keane: Celtic was a nice fit for him wasn’t it?

Schmeichel: It’s perfect, it’s perfect. With the manager he knows, the atmosphere around. Celtic, Celtic is just a massive massive club, you know that better than me but …. and then the team they have, it’s amazing. I feel so privileged that I can have those moments.

The signing news that Celtic fans are waiting on is that the option of a second year for Kasper at Celtic has been taken up.

The keeper seems every bit as happy as his Dad with all things Celtic, the 2026 World Cup in the USA remains a realistic goal with extending his stay in Glasgow offering consistency as the Danes look to continue their impressive recent qualification record.

A good keeper is a prerequisite for success. We’re fortunate to have a guy like Casper with us!
