Brendan Rodgers refused to backtrack on his criticism of Celtic supports following the 3-0 win over St Mirren.
Often things are said in the heat of the moment that later cause regret but Rodgers is the type of manager who always seems to be in control of his emotions and comments.
There has been a huge reaction to Sunday’s comments but in trademark fashion the Celtic boss wasn’t going to apologise with his focus on the future which is Wednesday’s home match against Dundee United.
? LISTEN: “I can never say to anyone what to say or to sing… I’m not going to beat about the bush when I’m talking about the bush.”

11 minutes 40 seconds:
I’m not going to beat about the bush when I’m talking about the bush. So, I’m experienced enough now to say what I think and what I feel but not in a derogatory way to anyone. I’d be the last person, coming back to here and everything that I put myself through to come back to here.
I’m so so happy to have come back here. I love my life, I love my job here but it is also important to say what I think. Sometimes you are paid not to say what you think but there are moments when you have to. I’m at stage now in my life, in my career, I don’t need to bite my tongue.
Following Sunday’s 3-0 win over St Mirren the post match comments from Rodgers created much more headlines and attention than the match itself.
Criticism of the fans for their lack of patience and for singing about Kieran Tierney were the key issues from what seemed a fairly routine victory after defeat in the Glasgow Derby.
With a 13 point advantage at kick-off time against Dundee United Rodgers will be looking to notch up another win with two more SPFL matches in the next seven days to be negotiated, away to Ross County and Dundee.

Wee bit of ego affecting his judgement. I think he said what he said due to a bit of anger at the fans criticism over possibly the worst Celtic display I have seen in my 62 years against Rangers. I suppose he could not back down now. But I hope he now realises it’s a two way street
Look it’s only people’s opinions which are like ARSEHOLES,everybody has one.
I see a number of players being linked with sevco, but no mention of any money changing hands for these players.
The auld SKINTO FC strikes again.
BR is experienced enough to play the game,
and take the heat off the players by deflection, with his own comments?
…as long as he delivers another Treble! 🙂
He’s quite right about one thing – there is now a generation of Celtic fans with so little to complain about that a misplaced pass is a disaster, going the first twenty minutes without scoring a goal is a calamity and losing at iBrox is an apocalypse. The thing about following us during the “character-forming” years of the 1990s is that it gave us a sense of perspective…. well, most of us!
He clearly doesn’t understand where ‘beat about the bush’ comes from.
He’s having a ‘mare but don’t tell him, as he’ll misinterpret that as well. 🙂
The only ones that seem to be gettin their knickers in a twist are the media. Trying to stir our big pot.
Any Celtic supporter that listens to The Pathological Liars of The Scummy Scottish Football Media is just as Scummy as The Scummy’s from The Scummy Scottish Football Media are !
This is all a lot of b*****KS. Brendan is well in control of what is going on at Celtic, sure the team had a collective mare against them at Ibrox but seriously, how many times has that happened? Hardly ever under BR, so people need to calm down a bit. The passing backwards stuff and ball retention can look negative to the untrained eye, but it’s all about movement off the ball. Very difficult when you’re up against the sort of bus parking we see from opponents every other week.

There was tension in the Cup Game at Hampden. Four shots at goal. Only one on target.
There was tension in the big loss to Rangers at Ibrox.
There was tension for the first 33 minutes v St Mirren.
Fans were anxious. Brendan was anxious. When Players are tense, mistakes are made.
When Nicolas scored at the 33 minute mark, Players felt relieved; relaxed, and put their brain and body into gear. Golfers talk about being “in the zone”. Fans knocking the team when they are trying to organize whatever, does not help
