Anthony Joseph has tweeted that Celtic are in talks to sign Sondre Orjasaeter from Sarpsborg.

The Sky Sports News reporter has a strong track record on Celtic transfer activity with Brendan Rodgers repeating today his wish to add goals to his squad during the January transfer window.

Orjaster is described by Transfermarkt as an attacking left-winger, in the 2024 Norwegian season he scored five times and had seven assists from 28 appearances.

At the age of 21 he is short on experience but with Daizen Maeda the first choice left-winger there is scope for a back-up to reduce the workload that will see the Japanese forward miss the match away to Ross County.

Two seasons ago Celtic signed Odin Thiago Holm with a similar profile, that move hasn’t worked out but in 2016 the hoops struck gold with Kris Ajer.

Transfer activity has been light across the SPFL Premiership but with four wingers likely to miss Saturday’s match at Ross County it does look like a position that needs strengthened.

Would definitely look like a Rodgers type of wide player, so could be very promising?

  • Martin Blackshaw says:

No more of these unknown projects, please. I read a story earlier linking Celtic to Gustaf Isaksen, a far better choice despite the higher sale price. Let’s not forget that Celtic paid 3 times over the odds to buy Adam Idah and signed Oding Thiago Holm, who was also described as an up and coming starlet from Norway. Please, not again. Go for Isaksen or someone with proven pedigree. I’m sick to death of failed projects when the team needs proper players.

I could not understand why we paid so much for Adah he could not get a first team game at Norwich but played well for us on loan last season if true 9.5 million pounds for him at present seems well over what he is worth but it’s halfway till the end of the season he may start scoring plenty of goals for us I hope .

    • Owen Mullions says:

No chance of that. We’ve had our pants pulled down by Norwich with Idah and just don’t want to admit it. He’ll be gone in 18 months at a bargain basement price.

        Who cares !
He helped hugely in our winning a league and cup double last season which has enabled us to supersede the combined totals of both the deadco and it’s bastard offspring by taking us level with them, thus allowing us this season, to begin the process of leaving them in our dust.
With the tens of millions of £££££’s sloshing around in our bank account l say it’s money well spent !
Anything or anyone who makes the hun hordes spew is absolutely great value for money considering the amounts we have frittered away on dross while the fat parasite Lawwell has been in charge.

  • GirdoH says:

Who cares? Proper Celtic supporters care! Idah did a good job for us and indeed helped win us the double but he hasn’t shown anything this season so far to suggest he is anywhere near a £9.5m player – in fact he isn’t that much better than Oh was. There are better value players out there – Miovski and Shankland would both have been better options at near half the money paid for Idah indeed we could have got both for that money.
