Nicolas Kuhn won’t drop his focus from Celtic’s success in pursuit of personal targets and glory.
His double against St Mirren took his goal tally in the SPFL to nine topped up by five in the League Cup and two in the Champions League.
With a high level of assists Brendan Rodgers could hardly ask for more from Kuhn who arrived at Celtic a year ago after dental work that saw him lose around 10kg in weight.
First viewing was far from impressive even though there was a goal, with a deflection, on his debut away to Aberdeen at the start of February.
There were some impressive contributions from Kuhn as Celtic drove their way to a double success but by the time the prizes were clinched James Forrest was Celtic’s first choice on the right wing.
Since pre-season in the USA Kuhn has been the dominant player in the Celtic side, to such an extent that there is possibly an over reliance on his magic from the right wing making things happen.
After spells at RB Leipzig, Ajax and Bayern Munich it seemed that Rapid Vienna was the start of the decline for Kuhn, instead it was the platform to turn his career around with Celtic reaping the benefits.
It’s the best team that I have played in yet. All the team mates and staff make it a lot easier for me, and I’m just happy to be here.
I’m not so focused on the numbers. We just have to perform well and that’s what I try to do.
For me, the most important thing is staying fit, that’s what I’ve always said, and at the end it’s about winning trophies. I’m not so focused on the numbers.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that Kuhn can maintain his influence on the side with a critical run of fixtures fast approaching.
Nine SPFL points are up for grabs over the next 10 days, that is followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Kilmarnock and the Champions League clash with YB Bern.
Kuhn’s form will be critical to Celtic’s hopes of success, if he is sitting on 20 goals or more the hoops at the end of the month Rodgers’ side will be well on course for a hugely successful season.
He Could be our top scorer this season !
