It was the moment that summed up a night of frustration for Brendan Rodgers, some might call it concern.
A corner kick into the six yard box headed home at the back post with your 6 foot 4 centre half brushed aside.
It is often claimed that online football fans claim to be body language experts, last night it didn’t require much skills in lip reading to understand Rodgers’ thoughts on the third goal that Celtic lost.
Those comments were being repeated by thousands of watching fans as the hoops fell behind in the 78th minute having twice been in front against a side that lost 3-0 at home to Ross County on December 26.

Afterwards in the media conference his tone was more diplomatic but the sentiment was similar when asked about Auston Trusty at the third Dundee goal.
You’ve got to deal with that better. You’ve got to stay on your feet, it’s as simple as that. You’re 6ft 4in, you have to deal with that better, but he knows, he understands that. Across certain areas we went a bit soft.
Rodgers now has some big decisions to make with the outcome of next week’s match against YB Bern likely to have a big influence on Celtic’s season.
Trusty and Liam Scales have both been dropped in the last month, Cameron Carter-Vickers last night played his seventh 90 plus minutes since December 26.
Celtic’s previously impressive defensive record is now looking very vulnerable, from those three defenders Rodgers has to find a pairing to get past Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup on Saturday then secure the win against YB that will extend Celtic’s Champions League interest into February.
That will be down to coaching but with three defenders for two slots in the team central defensive options are light with Maik Nawrocki and Dane Murray yet to play a minute in this season’s SPFL Premiership.
Weak as piss or waste of space, doesn’t bode well for our 6 million defender who was looking promising

At the end if the day we are not as good as we think we are we do need to strrenthed.
We play like that against Young Boys we will end up looking like auld boys and lose the game easily.
Heading into the 3rd week in January not even a mention of a player being close to coming into the team.
Once again fancying about trying to get players out before anyone comes in,anybody would think we are running on sevco shoestring budget when it comes to players having to leave before we bring in.
We definitely got CONNED with the signing of Idah,a £9 million lump of wood.
We ain’t recruiting any of that money back anytime soon, possibilities of him being shipped out onloan at some point, what a lazy player.
9 million for Idah,6 million for trusty,11 million for engels, total 26 million and very lucky to salvage a point against Dundee who’s whole team probably cost a tenth of that total.so who sanctioned this 26 million quids worth, like I stated in an earlier post , unless we change the way we play then Young Boys could very well pick up their first points in the CL and god knows what Aston villa will do to us.we have not secured Europe play off yet so we must buck up our ideas, even with Killie coming next we should look out because McInnes seems to have sussed out how to play against us.
Hi Jim on the previous post I had thrown in a bit of politics just for a laugh,I have no. Interest in voting as everything is corrupt no matter what country we are in.
Look at Biden who Parden his son,Trump the CROOK escaping justice for 34 felony charges, then 14 years of sleaze with the Tories and now Starmer and his lot are at it as well.
You couldn’t give me 6 numbers on the lottery with the bonus ball thrown in for good measure to vote for any political party, especially Reform and Nigel the CHISLER.
Back to the football your spot on with your post above, couldn’t agree with more.
Aye no problem Joker,I thought it wasn’t like you to comment on politics, keep up the good work mate , ripping the pish out of sevco and old squinty etc, cheers for the laughs pal.
When BR was here in his first stint, my son-in-law, who is more interested in the EPL, said that he will do good at first but after that other teams suss out how to play him and he can’t change. I guess we saw that at Leicester and it seems to be happening again but disguised by the poorness of the opposition in Scotland.
Skelped 3-0 by Sevco was nothing if not a wake up call.
To cut him some slack I don’t think BR has much help from the coaching staff who seem a bunch of “yes men” and for some reason are in with the bricks.
I think the weakness is in the midfield and they need a tougher character in there.
Carter Vickers was very unlucky with the deflection. He is Celtic’s most important player. His game time will be managed. He could well start the Kilmarnock game on the bench. The media will burst a gut to get the “binned* message across.. No change there.
If I could add another twopenceworth making that four pence all in, I would like to point out that the number of times I shouted at the screen “shoot” when the inevitable sideways pass was the preferred option.
That comes down to bad coaching.
Sadly I think BR deliberately threw Trusty under a bus as he looked straight at the camera before mouthing the ” weakness” jibe, knowing full well it would be recorded.
That looks like a manager running out of ideas and starting to deflect.
The bed wetting is reaching tsunami levels today….FFS.
If you’re talking about our players last night, especially 2nd half, I agree.
If you’re talking about our supporters telling it as it is, well, take a hike and happy-clap elsewhere. Thanks.
Happy clap?? Maybe you should jog on and support a different team.. reading p@sh about getting found out and suddenly Rodgers is a bad manager??? He found out last night that Trusty needs to toughen up, you can’t stop OGs, 16 clear, a trophy in the bag another away game done. Watch you don’t slip when you stand up…. Tata
Your moniker is Drookit and your 1st comment on here, that I’ve noticed anyway, is about “bed wetting”. Hmmmmm! Coincidence? You could always wear a nappy and some plastic pants? Or even be referred to as a nappy clapper! 🙂
I agree that Brendan suddenly becoming a “bad manager” is farcical and beyond comprehension. In many other cases I think the support is fully entitled to have a go at players (workers?) who regularly don’t turn up and there are too many to mention here. Last night was deplorable after a bright start and early goal. Pointless possession returned, we backed off and had no answer when a youngish side carrying loads of injuries came at us from the start of the 2nd half and scared the shit out of us. Bed wetting would be one way of describing THAT.
Anyway, we’re all Tims together on here hopefully, and men enough to accept a bit of ribbing. BTW, remembering how we blew Leipzig away and then thinking of the Ibrox shambles and the 2nd half last night it’s fukkin near impossible to make any sense of it.
In the first half, I thought the back men and a few others had lead weights in their boots, although Greg’s cross to Luke was good.
A team bus takes about 90 minutes to travel to Dundee from Glasgow.
A lot of athletes wear compression socks to assist blood circulation and alleviate muscle fatigue when travelling long distances. Question for Medico: Could sitting for 90 ‘ be no concern? I think yes, but maybe it could be for some players? Should the team arrive earlier for massage, light jogging and stretching before increasing the pace for skill drills and short sprints?
Home teams in the EPL arrive at their ground 75 minutes before kick-off.
What does Burnley FC do when they travel? I put these thoughts here, because of what I observed. One comment in James Forrest site included the word lethargy during first half. .
i have to give tony docherty praise for one tactic last night their goalie never tried the play the ball out possession nonsense it was punted up the park at bye kicks or whenever he had the ball in his hands. the lead up to the corner kick that led to their third goal was caused by this pussyfooting about instead of doing the simple thing by just clearing it. just my auld fashioned opinion about defending.
Scales is a very decent defender…IMO..He wins tackles and arial dules…but stop asking him to be Franz Beckenbauer…No more strolling forward into our opponents half…and playing piss poor passes…or getting caught in possession…Does BR not see this as a flaw…??…FFS its not rocket science…As for Trusty…If I’d had his physique…Brazil would have been checking my Grannie’s birthplace…Feckin’ fairy.
Trusty reminds me a bit of Jullien who was a 6’5″ defender who got himself bullied.
[Trusty is ‘only’ 6’3″ though.]
Joking aside, can’t really have a go at Trusty because the whole team was rotten.
Yes, Idah and Trusty made the most obvious errors, but as a team we were mince,
and lucky to get a point.
Well played Dundee.
How bad must Nawrocki be if he can’t get near the first team? Trusty was anything but trusty! The main issue i have is this ‘passive’ nonsense. How many times has BR mentioned that this season? First time round he could change our shape in game. Now we don’t. We seem only capable of playing for 45 of any 90 mins…Dundee will feel hard done by and deserved the point and more.
