With less than three days left in the transfer window Celtic are reported to have ended their interest in signing Mathias Kvistgaarden.
The Brondby striker has been linked with Celtic since the summer of 2023 with that speculation cranked up with the news that an offer from Rennes had been accepted for Kyogo Furuhashi.
Brendan Rodgers has been hopeful of finishing the transfer window stronger than Celtic had started December but the news on Kvistgaarden makes that task look increasingly difficult.
The 22-year-old Dane has a similar playing style to Kyogo but according to Anthony Joseph any interest in taking him to Glasgow will be put on hold until the summer.
UPDATE: Talks between Celtic and Brondby for striker Mathias Kvistgaarden have broken down.
There was a gap in valuation between the clubs.
Celtic have moved on to other targets, with talks underway for Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho.
But they could revisit in the summer. https://t.co/zGw1P4vUsy pic.twitter.com/y7wwJMULyG

Adam Idah looks likely to start against Motherwell tomorrow with Johnny Kenny or Daniel Cummings the likely back-up option. Combined those two have got 45 minutes experience of playing for Celtic.
Daizen Maeda is another option but facing six matches between February 2 and 18 Rodgers will be anxious to bring in another striker before Monday’s 11pm deadline.
Luis Palma joined Olympiakos on loan this afternoon, Rodgers is likely to be questioned on his transfer plans and hopes at tomorrow’s match against Motherwell.
As usual the Celtic board looking over the fence at our rival’s. We have been weakened in this window.
So much for all the rat’s guff about forward planning, they knew at start of season that kyogo wanted away. They know that forward planning is important and they must have known that bronby and anyone else would hold them to ransom at this stage – so why was kirstgaarden not brought in earlier; they had 4 weeks of transfer window before the wee man left.
Has Michael Nicholson already got a heated driveway? Hopefully the fans boycott all merch in the summer as that is the only thing these smug self-satisfied Tory runts understand
Can you imagine where Sevco would be if they had money. No mercy for anyone unlike the Celtic board.
Strikers too Expensive. Neded. No Sale January Window.
In Japan’s 2022 World Cup game against Germany, Daizen Maeda started the game as a Striker.
He was substituted in the 57 ‘ by Tacuma Azano. It was not new to him.
Christain Ronaldo started at Man Utd as a right winger. “Leo” Messi also started his career as a right winger who could play inside. Messi became an attacking forward/mid-field playmaker.
My hypothetical is; that Jota with coaching and practice could be
a Striker in the manner of Kyogo. In the meantime, Daizen and John Kenny fills that role.
The intention of bringing a more advanced young Striker in from overseas to replace Kyogo,
turns players like Daniel Cummings (center forward) off wanting to hang around Celtic FC. What might Johnny Kenny be thinking? He will be 21 years old in June 2025. I know pro football can be personally devastating at times.
BR might get his man yet, I feel Daniel is unrealistic about his short term prospects.
