With Celtic closing in on another SPFL title the Daily Record is going the extra mile to deflect their Army of Readers away from the bad news coming down the line.
Previously the figure 55 took on some mystical powers for the ailing Glasgow publisher but you’ll struggle to see any mention of that number in their coverage of this season’s ‘race’ for the SPFL Premiership title.
Over the course of the last week Record readers have been swamped with good news- firstly the San Francisco 49ers are set for multi-million pound investment that will see a summer spending splurge and secondly, real Rainjurz Men are back in charge of the Tribute Act.
Unfortunately for the new management team none of the current first team squad know the words to the songs that they used to sing on the team bus in the bygone days of yore.
Times have changed, the Record doesn’t shift 500,000 copies a day and there is no disguised remuneration scam in place to bring players to Rangers to keep Celtic at bay.
On the publishing front the Record is now scanning far and wide to come up with bad news stories over Celtic, a current favourite is reviving stories from 10 or 20 years ago that look bad for the 3-in-a-row champions.
A day later the theme remains with some more fishing for Selik bashing tales.
First up on Tuesday we have Kevin McDonald (Google him) recalling how in 2006 Dundee boss Alex Rae convinced him to reject interest from Celtic to join Burnley. McDonald went on to have a decent career in England, fair play to him but 19 years later his story is being served up to comfort grieving bears.
In The Championship with Dundee Rae’s record was W42, D22, L34.
On the same theory we have today’s Hoops Hard Lines tale.
Sean Higgins, guess what team he supported? Couldn’t believe that Barry Ferguson would one day be his manager but incredibly that happened to him in 2015 at Clyde- crazy but true. A former Rangers player manager a team in Cumbernauld that had a Celtic fan.
The Record is less keen to inform their Army of Readers that at Clyde Ferguson’s record was W46, D23, L51 which explains why his next job was at Kelty Hearts.
Wee buzzing az won’t take long o embarrass himself,,, ats in the post,,, as the record has done for past few weeks,,, I would be surprised if the yanks step in there,,, as they’ll be ina a world of pain,,,that crowd are going to the wall again sooner the better
If you watch their YouTube channel it’s literally 4 Huns talking about rangers they even slip up now and again and it’s “we” instead of “they” it honestly looks like you need to be a Hun to work there
Watching it is financially supporting The Scummy’s Garry…
Personally it’s not something that I could bring myself to do to be honest –
Two Celtic supporters on my street actually BUY The Scummy Fuckin Rag…
As Celtic supporters we ONE AND ALL need to starve The Scummy Bastards to their grave…
And sooner rather than later !
Bankrupt Barry will be schooled by Brendan and The Special One.
Regardless of the noise around – alleged – ‘interested buyers’,
sevco are not buying anyone this summer either: Lurch’s pay-off doubly ensures that.
If they can’t buy, then its more loans/frees – and Academy youngsters.
The bears might be more patient and forgiving if say 3 or 4 starting positions are for
lowly paid youngsters?
That would be the sensible way ahead under austerity?
They might not win anything, but they’ll keep the sevco lights on.
Who cares?
Canny believe it, I lost 2 stone by cutting out the jelly & ice cream and now this…….. Ah well, I’ll dig out the XXXL tweeds again…..

Which ‘ personality ‘ will replace Ferguson’s attempt at telling theRangers tales in the daily Record , now that he’s left it’s payroll ? All of his ghost typing scoops will be twiddling their thumbs now the reality has hit them that their hero has gone home !
Since Ferguson has taken his pals to back him up , the SMSM will have a few vacancies to fill as they too left behind their lucrative media jobs . Their salaries must be exceptionally generous from Ibroxland to make them leave multiple jobs from multiple outlets ? I can think of at least 4 different gigs wee ‘ Terry ‘ has given up , alone ! Do you think it’s a ‘ self employed number ‘, or a’ PAYE ‘ deal for the’ five guys ? ‘
Can you imagine they send McGregor out after a game to speak with the media, follow the bouncing ball when he speaks standing there with his dot-dot book about they got things wrong.
2. 500 thousand reasons why the tax cheat should Never be employed , cheated doctors , nurses , old age people , and welfare recipients of their payments while he transferred his assets to his wife . At least Naismith Never went back never tried pretending their the same rangers the rest that walked away ripped up their contracts eventually went back to soothe the angry bears ,no mention of I’ve no contract with this new club if I had they would sue me but that rangers was liquidated so best of luck with your new club I’m off ?
There’s only one fixture wee bazza bowlcut will be interested in during his tenure, everything he does will be structured round that.
He knows a result against Celtic will have them screaming for him to stay.
It’s all well n good being able to buy players, but they have to be paid and there are strict laws in place as to were the money comes from. So the rangers are fast heading for administration like the original rangers did.
Not only do you NOT hear see or read about 55 . We are told that we are the most successful club in SCOTLAND (true) after years seeing reading watching how the club from the dark side was the most successful club in the “world” (untrue) from the very same people
Just turned off the Ayrshire Huns V Sevco game…( Sevco leading 3-2)
What began as a dream start for Killie…eventually turned into a nightmare.
But the main thing I want to say is…
If you’re a fan of the long ball game…or heidie fitbaw…. then these two teams are for you.
Feckin’ rubbish.
The Scottish media will be having orgasms at the wonderful spirit shown by Sevco players…and the tactical genius of the Manager.
I’ll repeat what I said earlier…
Feckin’ rubbish.
The thing is that it worked for a man with no surname (Walter) v The Late Great Tommy Burns…
I don’t think it’ll outfox Brendan any time soon though Terrence !
Good point Clach…but the other thing I noticed last night was the LACK of basic football skills in the Killie team…So many of their players were just crap with the ball at their feet…Really poor.
RANGERS new manager for next season is the one and only Biffo the Bear.
Where’s he goin Kevin…
To QPR – The London Rangers…
Or Cove – The Aberdeenshire Rangers…
Or Berwick – The Border Rangers…
Or Brora – The Highland League Rangers…
Or Carrick – The Rangers on The Island of Ireland…
Because it certainly ain’t The Glasgow Rangers…
As they are DEAD as DEAD can be !
