VAR had a significant role in the Motherwell v Celtic match with the two big decisions from John Beaton going against the visitors, a form of levelling up.
With Celtic leading 1-0 the home side drew level in the 23rd minute when Luke Armstrong pushed Cameron Carter-Vickers in the back then netted with the break of the ball off the shins of Auston Trusty.
Replays on Sky Sports showed two hands going into the back of the Celtic defender but the man from the Crown Bar in nearby Bellshill decided to overlook it and allow the goal to stand.
Celtic quickly restored their lead but there was further VAR controversy to come early in the second half with no-one surprised by the outcome of the man on duty.

Adam Idah was level with the last Motherwell defender when he broke forward 30 yards from goal.
Without the technology used by UEFA the SFA resort to long angles with the VAR official deciding when the ball was played and applying what appears to be lines drawn by felt-tip pens.
Using that ‘technique’ you are guaranteed to come up with the outcome that you require, from the evidence shown on Sky Sports Idah could have been on or offside.
Beaton ruled the goal off for offside.
Asked about a similar use of VAR to disallow a ‘goal’ from Kyogo Furuhashi in the September Glasgow Derby Michael Nicholson refused to answer and claimed that a 25 minute whitewash between Willie Collum and Gordon Duncan represented transparency.
Tom Sparrow’s blushes are spared as his own goal will not stand after a VAR check deemed Adam Idah to be offside in the build-up ? pic.twitter.com/XPicDO5mhP

Will Celtic emerge from the transfer window with a stronger squad than on January 1?
Yes, we have an experienced CEO that delivers results

No, we never learn and repeat previous mistakes

A win is all that mattered but having that ranger supporting halfwit on var is an absolute joke.
We all knew prior to kick off that Beaton would have a say on matters, and he almost did using his paintbrush for lines–embarrassing for scottish football that he continues to be involved whilst having a love-in with the rANGERS footy klub..!!
He’s a SEVCO supporting half-wit these days Dora !
His loved ones on the field of play have died in 2012 !!!
I knew Beaton was on duty in VAR today, long before the game started I wondered what tricks would he get up to today, I’m surprised anybody’s surprised.
When are the Celtic board going to grow a set of balls and refuse to participate in any games where officials have link’s to the club that plays out of Ibrox var video advantage ranger’s
Show a pair
Demand answers
Go after the f*cking hun dog
*Grow
How can anyone make the correct decision of VAR when the ” camera is 50 yards in front of the lines ..or 50 behind the poxy things ? Only in wee Scotland! If that was the case in englandland or Europe , balls would be stuck onto spikes…..and I don’t mean the match balls !
Make no mistake Mr beaton knew what he was doing and not the for the first time wake up Celtic board and get your finger out before it’s to late
Sportscene never even discussed it , not a dicky bird
Not a dicky bird but plenty chicken pricks !
The day after we win (hopefully) the SC to complete the Treble,
the club could submit a formal complaint to Hampden,
about unacceptable officiating – and VAR – standards.
That would be the ideal time: no ‘sour grapes’ accusations possible,
and the club’s motivation would clearly be to promote real improvements
for the benefit of the game: for all clubs, and for all supporters / all paying customers.
It could be the best end of season action to take?
I know, our club just won’t do that though… 🙁
Beaton would know that Sevco were 3-0 up at Half Time…
Would be hoping For Celtic to get frustrated with his Cheatin and lose our discipline –
Thankfully it never happened…
But it still took until 90+4 minutes to feel comfortable because of that cheatin Bastard !
